Description
Manage and coordinate the activities and operations of the Quality and Regulatory department and staff. Ensure all relevant quality and regulatory requirements are met for products and processing. Ensure Federal compliance with Federal and State requirements. Responsible for leading and directing quality systems and promotes customer satisfaction, food safety, and SQF culture.
Essential Functions
- SQF Practitioner-Responsible for SQF programs and implementation
- HACCP Coordinator
- Direct Quality Assurance functions to assure that all products manufactured meet customer, corporate, quality and regulatory requirements
- Manage Regulatory Department to ensure all regulations for product specifications are met
- Initiates and implements quality improvement activities as appropriate to raise the food safety performance through business development of the company’s customer base
- Analyzes customers’ product specifications for new items to confirm quality process and procedure implementation in the production environment
- Responsible for all aspects of the Quality Assurance Department as it relates to plant operations
- Ensure that all routine Quality Assurance functions are performed accurately and at the required frequencies
- Manage and audit the all programs within the Quality Management System including but not limited to: CAPA’s, Recall Program, Sanitation, Consumer Complaints, Hold and Release Program, Environmental Program, Pest Management
- Initiate investigations of all out of specification results and process deviations
- Schedule and oversee corrective action system. Perform follow-up and support to appropriate teams to ensure adequate corrective actions are documented, implemented and measured for effectiveness
- Develop and implement effective training programs to achieve and maintain quality system and regulation awareness; SQF Compliance
- Perform regular plant walk-throughs to ensure compliance to SOP’s and GMP’s and Company expectations
- Act as plant representative for all 3rd party audits (Customer Audits, Regulatory Inspections and 3rd Party Certification)
- Provide leadership and professional development of Quality Assurance staff, promoting open discussion and collaborative teamwork

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time position. Full time hour schedule is subject to change with or without notice. Mandatory or voluntary overtime may be required to meet business needs.

Limited travel is expected for this position.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- B.S. required in Biology, Food Science/Nutrition or related field.
- Strong knowledge of FDA, USDA, and CFIA label regulations
- SQF Practitioner, required
- HACCP Certified, required
- PCQI, required
- 5 years of recent experience in Food Quality, strongly desired in a lead, supervisory, or management role
