Job Purpose

The Quality Manager is responsible for the implementation and execution of the Kraft Heinz Quality Chain Management System at Glenview and providing quality systems leadership to the R&D SBM team with shared managerial responsibilities to minimize risk to the business and ensures that the sites are in legal and/or Kraft Heinz compliance on environmental, security, safety, quality, and food safety issues, policies and regulations, including distribution and local storage sites. In collaboration with the production teams controls all products and processes at the sites, through strict adherence to policies, specifications, and standards. Utilizes methods, tools, and procedures to deliver zero defects from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished goods in a food safe environment. The position ensures that site personnel are properly trained to execute their quality responsibilities efficiently and effectively. The position has significant managerial responsibilities over several site locations.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

  • Implement and assure compliance to all Food Safety, Regulatory, and Quality policies
  • Lead implementation of Kraft Heinz Management System (KHMS) and associated policies at the different sites.
  • Ensure FDA / CFIA regulations and respective site programs are in compliance
  • Act as liaison between the sites and any corporate contacts/functions for quality systems issues
  • Ability to manage through multiple layers of organization
  • Act as primary interface with regulatory agency representatives at the sites.
  • Maintain robust food safety program (e.g., KHMS, HACCP, sanitation, pest control, GMP, traceability, environmental monitoring) and implementation of the site Ways of Workings (WoWs)
  • Ensure compliance /FSSC audit readiness – review all quality systems and policies annually
  • Trained in RCFA (root cause failure analysis)
  • Ensure appropriate documentation in place to support compliance to policies and procedures
  • Manage SBM quality labs to ensure all methods, equipment and measurements meet gauge reliability and repeatability (R&R) standards in both the laboratory and all site processes
  • Ensure standard work through development of work documentation and training to standards
  • Ensure compliance and training of SBM, R&D and pilot plant employees
  • Adaptable to handle multiple situations at one time, be able to prioritize and simplification of complex situations is a key.
  • Work closely with cross-functional members and pilot plant teams to finding creative solutions in a timely manner to grow the future
  • Communicate effectively with all positions (both orally and written).
  • Exhibit initiative and demonstrate good follow-up.
  • Develop site Quality KPIs, GR, Performance Monitoring and scorecard
  • Review quality management system metrics with the Pod Quality and leadership team on a regular basis
  • Achieve FSSC certification
  • Audit results – no majors, no repeat majors

Expected Experience & Required Skills

  • Minimum 5 years experience in quality management
  • FSPCA (Food Safety Preventive Controls Alliance) Certified in Preventive Control for Human Foods) - HACCP
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities and site locations
  • Understanding of Food Safety and Regulatory requirements
  • Experience with ISO, and/or FSSC 22000 beneficial
  • Able to cascade quality knowledge through training, coaching, guidance, role model quality standards
  • A proven goal orientated self-starter capable of being remotely managed.
  • Team player, capable of working in areas outside of expertise by drawing on team skills when required.
  • Task focused with strong organizational and planning skills
  • Highly proficient management skills and ability to manage changing project deadlines and priorities with ease.
  • Ability to influence key internal and external business partners, assess and manage risk, and communicate across the supply chain as required.
  • Ability to identify and understand food safety and quality issues
  • Familiarity with Kraft Heinz Quality Policies and Ways of Working
  • Experience with KHMS / GR preferred
  • Green Belt/Black Belt/Certified Quality Engineer preferred

Work Environment & Schedule

This position is considered a Manufacturing plant environment with heavy machinery and equipment. This position will be located at the Glenview, IL R&D Center.

Additionally, this role requires some travel as needed.

Physical demands include but not limited to

  • Frequent – activity or conditions sustained 1/3 to 2/3 of working hours; Upright stance, keyboard or text input; Sedentary – occasionally exerting 0 – 10 lbs. of force, limited movement from workstation for brief periods of time.

New Hire Base Salary Range:

$104,200.00 - $130,200.00

Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
