Job Overview:

Job Title: Quality Laboratory Chemist I – 2nd Shift

Job Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Thursday, 3:30 PM – 11:30 PM & Friday, 1:30 PM – 9:30 PM

Salary: $70,000 – $75,000/year + discretionary bonus potential worth up to 12% of year-to-date earnings (first year pro-rated)

About the Role:

We are seeking a Quality Laboratory Chemist I to join our Quality Laboratory team on 2nd shift. This role provides overall laboratory support with testing, working in a safe and structured environment. The ideal candidate will be able to manage time efficiently to complete assigned testing and will be willing and able to learn laboratory processes, instrumentation theory, and troubleshooting.

What You'll Do:

  • Perform Release, Stability, and Special Request testing of finished products and raw material samples following SOPs and in-house or compendial test methods
  • Independently execute in-house methods and procedures with little to no assistance
  • Stay flexible with testing schedules and adapt to laboratory improvements implemented by management or teammates
  • Assist with training new laboratory personnel and document training per established SOPs
  • Maintain a Safety-First mindset and ensure all lab equipment is calibrated and properly maintained
  • Train on and operate laboratory instrumentation, including but not limited to: Laboratory Balances, HPLC, GC, Automated Titrators, FTIR, UV/Vis Spectrophotometer, Polarimeter, and Dissolution/Disintegration Instrumentation
  • Execute projects assigned by management within established deadlines
  • Stay current on USP, FDA, and other relevant regulatory publications; ensure competency in ISO 17025 test methods
  • Assist in resolving laboratory Out-Of-Specification (OOS) results per investigation procedures, as assigned
  • Communicate effectively across departments and work within a team environment

Physical Requirements:

  • Regularly required to stand, bend, and walk for a minimum of 8 hours
  • Ability to climb stairs
  • Ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Ability to use both arms to push, pull, or lift; ability to bend and squat
  • Basic proficiency with fractions, decimals, and commercial arithmetic, as well as grammar, spelling, and punctuation

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (concentrations in Biochemistry, Inorganic, Physical, or Polymer Chemistry preferred)
  • 2–5 years of experience in a cGMP facility
  • Experience with instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, and LC required — must be comfortable troubleshooting these instruments
  • Proficient in laboratory analytical techniques such as titrations, gravimetric methods, and sample preparation
  • Experience with Empower Software preferred but not required
  • Strong interpersonal and self-motivation skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of personnel
