Quality Inspector
Performing quality inspections – source/receipt inspection, in-process, FPIs, and final inspections.
NOTE: there is a massive backlog right now that this facility needs to get through from a quality perspective.
Parts: components for nuclear containment vessels ranging from 1500lbs to 40 tons.- Forgings, castings, weldments, stock materials, machined components, and purchased materials, etc.
Reference materials: complicated prints with arcs, angles, and “weird” features. Will also look at POs and BOMs. There are inspection sheets as well.- Working within the both the metric and imperial system for this.
GD&T is critical
– concentricity, parallelism, perpendicularity, runout, flatness, surface profile, true position, etc.
Tolerances: +/- .001” is the tightest and is common.
Surface finishes: 125-250 RA. Using a profilometer and visual inspection.
Tools used: mics, calipers, thread gauges, pin gauges, ID mics, OD mics, height gauges, combo squares, profilometers, angle measurement tools, tapes, Faro Arms, Zeiss portable scanners.- Experience with the Faro and Zeiss equipment is a plus. Anyone running this has to program it by touch probe and physically moving the arm/probe to every feature that needs inspection.
Writing up IRs (Issue Reports) in the event there are non-conformities or discrepancies. There is no troubleshooting or RCCA work required but after an IR is written, it gets escalated to FTEs.
Must be capable of working within multiple computer platforms to pull reference materials, document inspections, and also work within Microsoft Office suite. There are several interconnected computer software platforms/applications that were internally developed, and this will be a bit of a learning curve, so computer skills are critical. Everything web and server based.- Example: a PO is in one platform while the documentation of the inspection is done somewhere and then the drawing is available in another platform.
Working in the receiving area (warehouse) as well as on the shop floor.- NOTE: may have to do inspection checks on received carbon steel and this would require working outdoors. Must be prepared for this.
Must be ready to mentor FTEs by sharing best practices and the whys behind things. Helping them understand the important of things and how it affects the flow of work. Once the FlexTrades inspector is up to speed, they will also do some training on Holtec paperwork.
Must be able to pass a Jaeger 1 acuity exam (prescription lenses are allowed).
There will be a “Quality Indoctrination”.- This includes a general exam, specific exam, and practice exam with cumulative scores of 80% or more.
