Job Overview:

Description

For over 60 years, Windings has manufactured custom motors and components built for the harshest environments — outer space, military defense systems, downhole drilling, motorsports, aerospace, and medical applications.

If you take pride in precision, enjoy solving problems, and want your work to support critical missions, you’ll fit right in.

Our Purpose: Making Our Customers’ Critical Mission Possible.

At Windings Inc., every employee is an owner. Since becoming an ESOP in 1998, we’ve built a culture where your work directly contributes to your retirement and our shared success. Our ESOP has historically contributed 10–12% of annual earnings toward retirement — at no cost to you — helping your savings grow through the power of compound interest.

What You’ll Do

As a Quality Inspector, you are the critical final checkpoint before products reach our customers. You’ll work alongside fellow employee-owners to ensure every part meets exacting standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manually inspect products (ID, OD, coil heights, lead lengths, stack dimensions) to verify specification compliance
  • Visually inspect for defects and Foreign Object Debris (FOD)
  • Perform electrical testing (dielectric strength, surge, inductance, resistance, insulation resistance, capacitance, Back EMF, Corona testing, etc.)
  • Complete serialization, documentation, and traceability records
  • Submit Engineering Change Orders, Exception Reports, and Tooling Requests
  • Record inspection data in company systems
  • Support and train team members
  • Collaborate with Engineering to troubleshoot and improve processes
  • Assist during customer, auditor, and source inspector visits
  • You will play a hands-on role in protecting product integrity and ensuring we deliver excellence every time.

Requirements

Education

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (required)
  • 6+ months of manufacturing experience preferred
  • Quality or inspection experience preferred

Experience

  • Experience working in a manufacturing quality environment
  • Experience conducting internal audits and supporting external audits (preferred)

Key Skills

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under magnification or microscope
  • Experience using precision hand tools (calipers, micrometers, plug gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to perform electrical testing
  • Ability to read and follow detailed written instructions
  • Basic math and computer skills
  • Problem-solving mindset
  • Strong communication skills across departments
  • Commitment to safety, PPE use, and FOD awareness
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a fast-paced environment
  • Team-oriented and collaborative
  • Why Windings?
  • 100% Employee-Owned (ESOP)
  • Company-funded retirement contributions
  • Work that supports aerospace, defense, and life-saving technologies
  • Stable, long-standing company with a mission-driven culture
  • Opportunities to learn, grow, and cross-train

If you understand that quality isn’t optional — it’s essential — we’d love to talk with you.
