Quality Inspector – Level 3/MRB Coordinator

 

Job Summary

 The MRB Coordinator supports the Material Review Board (MRB) process. This role ensures that non-conforming materials, parts, or products are properly reviewed, disposed of, and tracked in compliance with company procedures and industry standards. The MRB Coordinator is the primary point of contact for non-conformances, material discrepancies, and corrective actions.

 

Responsibility

  • Non-Conformance Management:
    • Review and process non-conforming materials, components, and products.
    • Coordinate the identification, documentation, and disposition of non-conformances (rework, repair, scrap, or return).
    • Ensure that non-conformance data is accurately captured in tracking systems and that records are maintained.
  • MRB Process Coordination:
    • Organize and facilitate MRB meetings to review and evaluate non-conformances.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, quality, production, etc.) to assess non-conformances impact and decide on appropriate actions.
    • Document meeting minutes and follow up on action items.
  • Compliance and Documentation:
    • Ensure all MRB activities adhere to company standards, policies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, AS9100).
    • Maintain detailed records of MRB decisions, actions, and dispositions.
    • Prepare and submit reports on MRB activities and metrics for management review.
  • Corrective and Preventive Actions:
    • Work with quality control and engineering teams to initiate corrective and preventive actions to prevent the recurrence of material issues.
    • Ensure timely closure of corrective actions and track their effectiveness.
  • Communication and Reporting:
    • Communicate MRB findings and resolutions to relevant stakeholders, including production teams, suppliers, and quality assurance personnel.
    • Provide guidance and support to teams on handling non-conformances and MRB procedures.
  • Training and Support:
    • Provide training to employees and departments on MRB processes, material handling, and non-conformance procedures.
    • Serve as a resource for answering questions regarding MRB issues and processes.

 

Academic/Educational Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent. 

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • Experience: 2-5 years of experience in manufacturing and quality assurance, with a focus on non-conformance management and material review.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with MRB processes, quality management systems (QMS), and industry standards (e.g., ISO, AS9100, etc.).
  • Skills:
    • Strong organizational and coordination abilities.
    • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • Ability to work collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

 

Working Conditions

  • High pressure die casting facility.  This includes potential high heat environments.
  • Work in high noise environments (Linamar is an OSHA Hear Conservation site)
  • Data entry while sitting for extended amounts of time
  • Occasional bending, twisting, turning and lifting weights of less than 50 lbs.
  • Standing and walking for a majority of the workday.
  • Regular interaction with engineering, production, and quality teams is essential.
  • The role may involve working in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
