Job Overview:

Quality Inspector

We are seeking a detail-oriented Quality Inspector to support manufacturing operations for our client in Huntsville, AL. The Quality Inspector ensurs all products and components meet established standards and customer requirements. This role is hands-on and requires strong knowledge of inspection techniques, measurement tools, and quality system processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out inspections, testing, and sampling of raw materials, in-process parts, and finished products to verify conformance to specifications.

  • Review production documentation (such as Device History Records) for accuracy and compliance before product release.

  • Perform dimensional inspections using precision instruments, including calipers, micrometers, dial indicators, optical comparators, CMMs, and other specialized equipment.

  • Set up and use various reference tools (surface plates, gauge blocks, angle plates, V-blocks, sine bars, height gauges, etc.) to measure complex features such as radii, arcs, and angles.

  • Inspect incoming shipments, in-process assemblies, and final output to ensure quality at all stages of production.

  • Conduct visual inspections to identify cosmetic or process-related variances, ensuring customer appearance standards are met.

  • Provide training and guidance to production operators on visual acceptance criteria, measurement methods, and process compliance.

  • Report nonconformances and work with Quality leadership to ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented.

  • Document inspection activities, maintain records, and communicate findings across departments to support quality and compliance.

  • Inspect purchased parts, subassemblies, and completed products against defined requirements using mechanical, physical, and/or electrical test methods.

  • Support rework or rejection processes when materials or products do not meet standards.

  • Participate in internal audits of processes and systems, following documented audit procedures.

  • Accurately record inspection and testing data while maintaining controlled files and quality records.

  • Coordinate and track calibration of test instruments and monitoring equipment.

  • Support the development and revision of SOPs, work instructions, and inspection checklists.

  • Recommend improvements to inspection methods, tools, or processes to enhance accuracy and efficiency.

  • Provide feedback to production and engineering teams regarding quality issues and opportunities for process improvement.

  • Assist in ensuring compliance with industry standards, including AS9100 and Nadcap, as well as customer-specific requirements.

  • Mentor and train new Quality Inspectors to ensure consistency in inspection practices.

Qualifications:

  • Experience in quality inspection within a manufacturing environment.

  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools and equipment.

  • Strong attention to detail and documentation skills.

  • Familiarity with quality management systems (AS9100, ISO, or Nadcap experience preferred).

  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and procedures.
