Schedule: 2nd Shift | 2:30 PM-Midnight | 9/80 Schedule

Pay Rate: $60-$66 per hour

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leader in the aviation and aerospace industry to hire an experienced Quality Inspector in Oxnard, California.

In this critical role, you’ll support spacecraft repair and manufacturing programs by ensuring components and assemblies meet engineering drawings, Quality Management System requirements, and contractual specifications. From precision dimensional inspections to identifying non-conformances, your expertise will directly contribute to the quality, reliability, and performance of sophisticated aerospace hardware.

What You’ll Do

As a Quality Inspector, you’ll work closely with manufacturing, engineering, and quality teams to verify that products meet exacting requirements. Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Perform visual, dimensional, functional, and other required inspections on spacecraft components and subassemblies.
• Inspect in-process and completed products using predetermined methods, operations, setups, and specifications.
• Use precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, pin gages, gages, and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs).
• Inspect and test mechanical, electrical, and structural components and assemblies.
• Perform inspections ranging from close-tolerance dimensional checks to general surveillance of work in progress.
• Make critical decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of completed work and testing.
• Work from engineering drawings, diagrams, customer specifications, inspection instructions, and other technical documentation.
• Identify, document, and track non-conforming materials and assist with determining potential root causes.
• Perform receiving inspections on purchased parts and materials, verifying compliance with vendor certifications and engineering requirements.
• Partner with manufacturing operations and engineering personnel to address documentation issues and improve processes.
• Maintain accurate and detailed inspection records, logs, and reports.
• Accept, reject, or identify required rework for defective or malfunctioning units and systems.
• Help ensure quality standards remain at the forefront of manufacturing operations.

Required Qualifications

To be considered, candidates should have:

• High school diploma or GED.

• At least 3 years of additional education and/or direct experience in a quality assurance or inspection role.

• Hands-on experience using precision measuring equipment, including:- Calipers

  • Micrometers
  • Comparators
  • Gages and pin gages
  • Other relevant inspection tools

• Ability to accurately perform inspections and make sound quality decisions.

• Ability to work the 2nd shift from 2:30 PM to midnight.

Preferred Qualifications

Candidates will stand out with:

• Strong computer skills.
• Ability to read and comprehend detailed control plans, work instructions, engineering drawings, Bills of Materials, specifications, and related criteria.
• Understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across an organization.
• Experience working as part of a team to solve problems and balance changing workloads.
• Experience with electronics workmanship standards such as IPC-A-610 and IPC-A-620 and related specifications.
• Previous experience with aerospace manufacturing, mechanical assemblies, and/or electronic assemblies.
