Commercial Plastics seeks full-time Quality Inspectors for our manufacturing facility in Waverly, NE. We are experiencing a tremendous amount of growth in our Waverly, NE Facility. Essential duties and responsibilities can include, but are not limited to:
- Inspecting products to determine compliance with order specifications and company’s quality control system
- Using automated measurement equipment, comparators, micrometers, calipers, dedicated gauges, color chips and other inspection fixtures and instruments to determine product compliance to applicable standards
- Performing first piece inspections per documented procedures
- Performing in-process inspections per established schedule and documented procedures
- Performing dock/pallet inspections per established schedule
- Assisting technicians and operators in interpretation of procedures, drawings, and accept/reject samples to determine acceptability
- Performing product containment activities for suspect products which include backtracking, segregating, tagging, and placing on ERP hold.
- Maintaining accurate records, for example:
- Documenting accurate information electronically and/or on log sheets
- Documenting rejects in ERP system and assistance in evaluation of cause
- Notifying appropriate personnel of reject and quality issue status
Administrative Responsibilities of Quality Inspector:
- Updating documented procedures/inspection methods
- Cycle counting hold areas
- Performing test on incoming raw materials
- Flexibility of hours to meet production demands
Other General Responsibilities of Quality Inspector:
- Actively participate in company’s Quality Management System
- Maintaining a safe and clean working environment following safety procedures and policies
- Actively communicate with all team members as needed
- Complying with work requirements related to attendance and notice of absence, general conduct and following work instructions
- Monitoring and communicating material needs to support normal production activity
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one-year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
Required Language Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, technical drawings, and manuals
- Ability to legibly write inspection results on inspection logs, reports and correspondence
- Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization
Required Mathematical Skills:
- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume
- Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry
Required Reasoning Ability:
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables
- Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds
- Ability to stand/walk throughout the day
- Multitask oriented and ability to work with teams or to be self-governed
Working Conditions:
- There may be exposure to noise, dust and fumes in the production areas
- Work in climate controlled manufacturing facility
