In this role, you'll perform inspections throughout the manufacturing process, investigate quality concerns, and partner with production, engineering, and suppliers to drive continuous improvement.

What You'll Do

  • Perform dimensional inspections of fabricated and machined parts to ensure compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Conduct in-process inspections of weldments and maintain accurate inspection records.
  • Perform final inspections of vendor-supplied weldments to verify conformance with company specifications and applicable standards.
  • Utilize precision measuring and testing equipment while ensuring all equipment remains properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Develop and maintain inspection reports and initiate non-conformance reports when required.
  • Investigate quality concerns and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
  • Review Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for print accuracy and completeness.
  • Work directly with suppliers to resolve quality issues involving materials, components, and fabricated parts.
  • Inspect incoming truck chassis to verify specifications and quality requirements while maintaining VIN records.
  • Inspect incoming contract units from Germany to ensure compliance with sales orders and order confirmations and provide inspection reports to Schwing GmbH.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and safety.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What We're Looking For

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Quality Assurance Technology or a closely related technical field.
  • Previous experience in quality inspection, manufacturing, welding, or a related industrial environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret:
    • Blueprints
    • Mechanical drawings
    • Hydraulic schematics
    • Electrical schematics
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience using SAP.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and other inspection equipment.
  • Knowledge of welding inspection practices and manufacturing quality systems.

Physical Requirements

  • Perform inspections and respond to quality issues on the production floor approximately 70% of the workday.
  • Perform computer and documentation work approximately 25% of the workday.
  • Occasionally work outdoors in varying weather conditions (5%).
  • Ability to safely work in a manufacturing environment and interact effectively with employees, vendors, and customers.
