Job Overview:

Quality Inspector I – All Shifts

Summary of Position:

Inspect raw material and/or parts at the incoming receiving location inside the warehouse at CLS. Parts are inspected to meet criteria specified by engineering drawings and Caterpillar 1Especification directives.

**Key Accountabilities: **

  • Accurately inspect raw materials and products visually, as well as with gauges, scales, or other measurement instruments as required and according to work instructions

  • Read and understand Engineering drawings

  • Understand specifications called out on prints.

  • Use multiple gages

  • Computer literate

  • Knowledge of Microsoft office suite

  • Able to multitask and adapt to continuous change

  • Photograph inspection in complete detail with clear and concise photos

  • Segregate non-conforming parts or material

  • Complete required documentation for work performed

  • Perform data entry of work results into appropriate databases and share point

  • Attention to detail and accuracy with velocity

  • Great attendance a must

  • **Qualifications: **- Minimum Requirements:

    • Ability to read, write, spell, and perform basic math.
    • Proficient in Microsoft office suite
    • Ability to learn correct use of basic measurement instruments (tape measure, scales, gauges, digital camera)
    • Basic computer knowledge to complete data entry
    • Attention to detail and accuracy with velocity
    • Ability to accurately inspect basic material, commodities, and/or processes
    • Memorization skills are necessary.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 35 lbs
    • High school diploma or GED
    • Required use of hand-held measuring tools and use of computer with or without scanning technology.
    • Previous experience in Manufacturing and/or warehousing helpful.
    • Knowledge of metrology, metallurgy, engineering, automotive, and molding experience is helpful.
  • Preferred requirements:

  • Some college courses or certificates in Quality Assurance-related field of study

  • Prior experience using basic measurement instruments

  • Prior experience in a quality assurance inspection position
