Quality Inspector – 1st Shift (Contract-to-Hire)

Employment Type: 6-Month Contract-to-Hire
A manufacturing company is seeking a Quality Inspector to join their team on 1st shift. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity, with a 6-month contract prior to conversion.
This role is 100% in the inspection area, with an initial focus on receiving inspection for the first 6-12 months. The Quality Inspector will ensure all incoming, in-process, and final components meet specifications and certifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform receiving, in-process, and final inspections using micrometers, calipers, indicators, and other precision tools.
- Verify that incoming materials match certification documentation for accuracy.
- Review and approve material and special process certifications.
- Document all inspections, non-conformities, and quality issues accurately in the system.
- Maintain thorough inspection records to ensure traceability.
- Ensure compliance with quality procedures and requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and GD&T.
- Cross-check shipped items against certification paperwork.
- Operate CMMs (Coordinate Measuring Machines) as needed (CMM experience is a plus).
Must-Have Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- 2-5+ years of experience in a quality-related role in manufacturing.
- Experience using inspection tools such as micrometers, calipers, and gauges.
- Basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong attention to detail, especially with certification paperwork.
- Experience with in-process or first-piece inspections.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Experience documenting inspections and inputting data into a system.
Nice-to-Have Qualifications:
- Aerospace industry experience.
- Experience operating CMMs or other automated inspection equipment.
You should be proficient in:
- GD&T
- Quality Inspection Experience
- Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
- Mechanical Testing
