The Quality Inspector is part of a Quality team which inspects circuit boards and other components. Under limited supervision, this person performs a variety of routine and advanced IPC knowledge inspection procedures and determines the acceptance or rejection and rework requirements in accordance to quality assurance standards and customer specifications.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs assigned tasks in accordance with manufacturing process instructions (MPIs), production drawings, sample assemblies, and verbal instructions
- Follows proper Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) procedures at all times and is knowledgeable of and performs job in accordance with proper material handling procedures and guidelines
- Performs assigned work within defined labor standards, stated production schedules, and corporate quality goals
- Interprets and applies industry, customer and CREATION defined specifications to a variety of complex products
- Visually inspects and verifies solder joint integrity, ensures all component values meet customer requirements and validates component leads are properly formed
- Inspects plated through-hole (PTH) and Surface mount technology (SMT) assemblies in accordance with current revision of IPC A 610 or specified workmanship standards
- Performs some packaging, final QC functions and out of box audits of packaged assemblies according to CREATION procedures, as required
- Performs pre-production A.Q.L.
- Ensures reworked assemblies meet IPC 7711/7721 Rework & Repair standards
- Performs defect data entry in quality database
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- One year Electronic Manufacturing experience OR equivalent combination of education and experience
- Excellent component identification skills for PTH and SMT components, including polarity, values and tolerances are required
- IPC A 610 certification is preferred
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Capability to take direction, understand work instructions and work well with others
- Ability to inspect using a microscope, magnifying lamp or eye loupe for prolonged periods of time
- Familiarity with use of calibrated tools used for inspection, measurement and verification, such as torque drivers, calipers and pin or hole gauges
- Ability to read and understand technical drawings and instructions
- Computer skills required to support Quality Control reporting and data entry
- Good manual dexterity, good vision and the ability to stay seated for long periods of time
- Familiarity with IPC 7711/7721 Rework & Repair standard (preferred but not required)
- Good communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work in a position of frequently changing priorities
- Ability to speak and read English fluently
- Ability to read and comprehend written instructions and emails
- Must be a US - Person (US Citizen or Permanent Resident)
In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the anticipated starting pay for new hires for this position is between $20- $21 per hour; a shift differential may also be provided depending on the work hours. Full-time employees are also eligible for benefits and performance-based bonuses. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as a final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience, education, location, and shift.
