Inspects parts for conformity to customer requirements. Aerospace knowledge a major plus.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect parts for conformity to customer requirements utilizing a variety of inspection tools.
- Verify completion of production documentation and process shipments.
- Comply with quality management system requirements.
- Verify material & process certification documentation meets customer requirements.
- Ensure product meets all customer requirements.
- Detect and document nonconforming product.
- Ensure inspection methods and equipment used are appropriate and effective.
- Ensure inspection intervals are statistically valid.
- Ensure customer quality requirements are communicated to machine operators and understood.
- Provide machine operators with data required to correct nonconforming parts.
- Ensure all process documentation is completed and all required certification documentation is accurate.
- Compliance with AS9100D and customer-specific requirements.
Competencies
- Geometric dimensioning and tolerance understanding. ASME Y14.5-2009.
- Brown and Sharpe Micro-Val CMM experience a plus.
- Experience with CMM Manager software a plus.
- Use of many types of inspection equipment, dial indicators, gage blocks, micrometers.
- Good computer skills, experience with office software and some knowledge of drawing/cad software.
- Good record keeping and organizational skills.
- Good communication skills.
- Ability to assist with PPAPs, FAI reports, Gage R&R and other quality tools.
- Good math skills, Machine Shop basics
- Familiar with AS9100 shop environment.
Specific Training Required
- Inspection, Control of Nonconforming Outputs, ID & Traceability, Configuration Management.
- Familiarity with Jet Machined Products inspection forms and record keeping practices.
- AS9100 awareness.
Education Required/Preferred
- Vocational or non-vocational High School Graduate or GED
Experience Required/Preferred
- Quality inspection background
Decision Making (How much direct supervision is given)
Works alongside production to ensure products meet requirements. Reports nonconforming product to Quality Manager.

- Improper inspection techniques, allowing inferior product to be produced in volume and possibly reach
customers.
- Poor documentation resulting in failure to meet customer documentation requirements.

- Occasional lifting of heavy objects.
Work Environment
- Mostly shop environment
- Some of time spent in shop environment; ear and eye protection required
