Starting wage is based on experience and shift. In addition to a base wage, every associate is eligible for quarterly profit sharing!! Various shifts are available and off shifts include additional shift differential pay.

Position Summary:

Quality lead Key responsibilities will be for inspecting materials and products as they pass through a variety of checkpoints, including but not limited to raw material, in‑process, outside process validation, assembly and receiving. Completes accurate inspection reports while maintaining a filing system for these reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Supports and Maintains all Key Quality Lab Equipment required for day to day inspection requirements: 2D/3D Keyence, Microscope, LECO Micro Hardness Tester, LECO Puck Press and Prep units and Non-Destructive Testing Equipment (NDT).
  • Thorough knowledge of dimensional, visual, and mechanical inspection processes.
  • A good understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerances (GD&T) as defined on Ruger Engineering Drawings and Process Documentation.
    • Able to work independently to verify the conformance of machined, MIM, plastic and assemblies according to operation sheets, customer specifications, and drawings.
  • Supports and provides summarized results for all lab inspections as required or requested by engineering and production.
  • Identifies and recommends disposition of defective items in accordance with established procedures.
  • Determines acceptability of manufactured components through various inspection tasks involving the use of a wide variety of standard and precision test instruments and equipment (Examples include: 2D/3D Keyence, Micro Hardness Tester and supporting equipment for producing samples).
    • Support First Article Inspection (FAI) for New Product Development (NPD)
    • Incoming Inspection / supplier process validation
    • In-process and final inspection of firearm components
  • Supports and maintains Quality inspection Job Instructions and audits that standard work is followed within the Manufacturing Value Streams for all critical processes in the facility.
    • This includes but is not limited to: Heat Treat Furnace Inspection, Hardness Validation, Micro-Hardness of samples, and various dimensional requirements utilizing previously noted variable inspection equipment.
  • Works closely with production, purchasing, shipping and receiving to prioritize and maintain flow of incoming material from dock to stock to prevent or to minimize any down events.
  • Supports and drives Material Review Board (MRB) Supplier issues with suppliers: Support Containment, Root Cause and Corrective Action follow up.
  • Ensure raw materials and products are in accordance with established product tolerance levels for quality and performance
  • Develops and maintains Gage Validation inspections in all areas of the plant. (Altegra introduction and maintenance)
  • Develop thorough understanding and working knowledge of Non-Destructive Testing: Currently these include; Fluid Particle Testing & Magnetic Particle Testing

Requirements:

  • Accurately completes all necessary paperwork on a daily basis
  • Regular attendance
  • Complies with company safety rules and regulations
  • 3-5 years of progressive experience in layout inspection
  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills
  • Maintains accuracy and attention to detail at all times and completes tasks in a timely manner
  • Contributes to continuous improvement, waste elimination, and supports 5S initiatives
  • Generates suggestions for improving work; develops innovative approaches and ideas.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and Experience:

Two years full time experience and/or training in dimensional metrology within the past five years.

Communication:

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one‑on‑one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals and calculate right triangle trigonometry.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Other Qualifications:

  • Possess strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) experience is a significant PLUS

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

You must be a minimum of 18 years old, and able to pass both a background and drug screen.
