Job Description: Quality Inspector
Position Overview:
The Quality Inspector is responsible for conducting in-process and final inspections of fabricated weldments and assemblies to ensure compliance with customer specifications. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining quality standards and ensuring customer satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Approve in-process production by verifying specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating necessary adjustments to the production supervisor.
- Approve finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and ensuring rework is completed accurately if needed.
- Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing rework and waste, and inputting data into the quality database.
- Maintain and operate measurement equipment according to instructions.
- Read blueprints and instructions to understand quality expectations for products and supplies.
- Keep detailed records of testing, information, and metrics as required.
- Determine the disposition of periodic inspections and appropriately tag products in line with procedures.
- Prepare and submit reports to the Quality Manager as required.
- Ensure compliance with attendance, quality, safety, and accountability standards, including:- Reporting to work on time and adhering to schedules.
- Performing tasks correctly the first time to meet customer expectations.
- Wearing required safety equipment and following company safety rules.
- Accepting responsibility for the quantity and quality of work produced.
Job Requirements:
- Follow all procedures, work instructions, and operational processes.
- Contain and promptly notify management of any nonconforming product.
- Understand the potential consequences of non-compliance, including increased rejection rates, higher scrap rates, delayed shipments, personal injury, or environmental impact.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year of quality inspection experience or equivalent training.
- Proficiency in using inspection equipment such as tape measures, calipers, and micrometers.
- Strong attention to detail and a results-driven approach.
- Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings.
- Knowledge of relevant safety standards and a commitment to wearing required protective clothing (e.g., face shield, gloves, PPE).
