Responsible for supervising and coordinating the daily activities of the Production Engineering and Quality Assurance Department, ensuring company compliance to industry standards and regulations, and promoting quality awareness within the organization.
Regularly reports to management on essential departmental KPI’s provides status of major quality projects in support of the company’s strategic goals.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Supervises the day-to-day operations of the quality assurance staff; develops and maintains effective and efficient workflows; and leads and participates in projects.
- Develops and maintains procedures, work instructions and forms.
- Ensures ASME quality management programs and other industry standards are followed to meet customer and stakeholder needs while meeting statutory and regulatory requirements that relate to HHWS products.
- Leads resolution of non-conformance items.
- Manages the M.T.E calibration program.
- Guides employees in the resolution of escalated and/or complex requests and procedural or technical issues.
- Promotes quality awareness and continuous improvement activities.
- Oversees the process and analysis of returned goods and material rejections to suppliers.
- Supports the internal auditing program.
- Coordinates corrective action and quality alert program.
- Supervises personnel; interviews job applicants; makes hiring decisions; ensures proper training; provides guidance and leadership; conducts performance evaluations; makes recommendations regarding salary adjustments; sets work hours; schedules time off; and administers discipline and terminates employees when necessary.
- Provide support to continuously improve cost, quality, and delivery.
- Participate in New Product Development reviews providing feedback on new design DFM, DFA, and DFS rules compliance.
- Leads the team in continuous improvement activities and tasks.
- Supports the shop floor activities especially with new product development Production Validation activity
- Support new supplier onboarding consisting of FAI’s, PPAP’s, etc.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION: Bachelor's and/or Master's in Engineering.
MANAGEMENT:
- This position has Direct reports consisting of Engineers, QA Techs, QA Inspectors or QA Leads
QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or technical field with equivalent experience.
- Ten years’ experience in Quality Assurance with Ten years in Manufacturing or Industrial Engineering.
- Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning Systems.
- Knowledge of ASME Sections VIII and IX. Training Certificates preferred
- Ability to take initiative and be resourceful
- Ability to communicate and work with colleagues/teams in different departments professionally and effectively
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing
- Experience with Six Sigma methodology is a plus

*WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed both in office and on manufacturing floor.
- Noise level is minimal with intervals of spikes.
- Required to wear safety glasses and utilize other safety equipment as required while present on the shop floor.
