Job Purpose Directs and provides guidance for all Quality and Engineering functions within Modineer-Pulverman. Leads all IATF 16949 activities. Duties & Responsibilities - Direct all Quality, IATF 16949 and Engineering efforts within the company.
- Ensures all Engineering and Quality projects, initiatives, and processes are compliant with the organization's policies, procedures, and standards.
- Utilize IATF 16949 experience to guide Quality plans and initiatives.
- Work with the Quality Manager to set the QA policies to meet customer requirements.
- Perform scheduled monthly and quarterly customer and vendor visits.
- Establish and monitor the quality goals and quality metrics for the company.
- Create the company’s quality strategic plans and guide the company to meet those plans.
- Monitor customer feedback and corrective actions; revise the quality system based on this feedback.
- Actively participate in customer meetings and present the quality roadmap.
- Ensure the QA team and employees use quality tools to improve the company’s bottom line.
- Accomplish Quality objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Enforce policies and procedures.
- Develop Quality plans; identify critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures
- Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measure production; document evidence; determine operational and performance qualification; write and update quality assurance procedures
- Maintain and improve product quality by completing product, company, system, compliance, and surveillance audits; investigating customer complaints; collaborating with other members of management to develop new product and engineering designs, and manufacturing and training methods
- Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations
- Drive the Quality and Engineering department efforts. Determine, review and approve the quality roadmap, review supplier performance and promote and drive suppliers to meeting the company’s requirements.
- Develop and execute the company's process control systems and drive and monitor the implementation process of these systems. When monitoring, review reports and adjust the strategic plans to assure the process control meets customer requirements.
- Assure the QA team and company employees use quality tools to improve the company’s bottom line. These tools include the proper application of AQL sampling, 8D Reports, and Data Analysis.
- Accomplish Quality human resource objectives by recruiting, selecting, orienting, training, assigning, scheduling, coaching, counseling, and disciplining employees.
- Participate in relevant training activities; lead when necessary.
- Direct the Quality Manager and Engineering Manager. Ensure they are managing their resources appropriately.
- Ensure the Quality Team supports Engineering in the APQP process’
- Plan and review compensation actions.
- Communicate job expectations; plan, monitor and review job contributions.
- Provide feedback to Management team for ideas & improvements.
- Express ideas & thoughts verbally in a positive & productive manner.
- Communicate with work group and Managers to optimize processes.

Qualifications - Ability to lead by example
- Required: Degree in Engineering or Sciences
- Desired: Six-sigma black belt certification
- Required: 10+ years of working in ISO 9001 manufacturing environment
- Desired: 10+ years of experience in quality inspection and documentation of inspections & findings
- Desired: 10+ years of working with the IATF 16949 certification process
- Complete understanding of ISO 9001, IATF 16949 and ISO 14001 standards and objectives
- Computer literate
- Advanced math skills
- Knowledge of the proper use of inspection tools and methods.
- Able to professionally interact with all departments both verbally and through email.
- Able to understand and interpret customer requirements and standards to make objective pass/fail decisions on finish quality
