We are seeking a motivated Quality Engineer Intern to join our team for the summer. This is an excellent opportunity for students looking to gain hands-on experience in quality engineering and manufacturing processes.

PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Process Improvements & Documentation:
    • Document, test, and evaluate new equipment, materials, and fixtures.
    • Update work instructions, reference sheets, and forms for process changes.
    • Updates Quality Control Checkpoints, as well as monitors usage and participates in coaching for compliance.
  • FTT DataMyte Improvements:
    • Reviews usage, participation of Datamyte system
    • Helps coach operators on troubleshooting defects and data entry
    • Assists in RCCM for top defects
  • Engineering Change Order (ECO / PLM) Support / PQP and Tr (Process Qualification Process):
    • Attend PLM meetings, coordinate with design engineers, and address production needs.
    • Ensure smooth implementation of ECOs across departments.
    • Participate in new product launch initiatives.
    • Test new product samples and test PQPs and TRs
  • IT & Technical Support:
    • Troubleshoot, calibrate, and modify test hardware/software.
    • Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and resolve connectivity issues.
    • Set up and troubleshoot production computers, scanners, and printers.
  • Project Management Assistance:
    • Maintain project logs, track progress, and coordinate with team members.
    • Estimate hours and materials for projects.
    • Create CAD designs for production layouts.
    • Fabrication & Assembly Support:
      • Machine, fabricate, and assemble various fixtures and devices.
      • Design and construct tools based on requirements.
      • Create and print 3D drawings for gauges and jigs.
    • Manufacturing & Engineering Knowledge:
      • Understand materials, tools, and production processes.
      • Familiarity with Six Sigma/Lean principles and quality control methods.
    • Production Support & Cost Optimization:
      • Address production issues, update documentation, and improve processes.
      • Recommend changes to designs and manufacturing methods.
    • Self-Management & Administrative Tasks:
      • Manage multiple projects and respond to urgent requests.
      • Complete purchase orders and expense reports as needed.
    • Additional duties and responsibilities as requested by the Engineering & Quality Manager
    • ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • Pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field)
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to draft using Autocad or an equivalent software
    • Proven experience in data analysis, reporting, and visualization.
    • Ability to learn 3D Printer and software to program, design and implement.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to provide data-driven insights for decision-making.
    • Utilize advanced functions in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros, and formulas.
    • Prepare professional documents and reports using Microsoft Word.
    • Manage and communicate effectively via Microsoft Outlook.
    • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
    • Strong analytical and critical-thinking abilities.
    • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively.
    • Strong communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to build positive partnerships and work collaboratively.
    • Demonstrated problem solving and root cause analysis skills (Why 5, Fishbone, etc..)
    • Ability to prioritize and multi-task various and conflicting responsibilities in a high energy production environment.
