Quality Engineer Principal R33167
The Principal Engineer – Quality performs definition, analysis, and resolution of complex product or process concerns for heavy duty vehicles. Integrates with cross functional teams to develop product and process quality standards. Provides quality planning, control, and improvement to assure product quality meets the customer expectation. Collaborates with segment level quality leadership.
YOUR IMPACT:
Collaborate with engineering and manufacturing to ensure quality standards are in place or developed when necessary.
May work with high-risk investigations to document quality concerns and resolutions involving internal or customer concerns and external regulatory bodies through CAPA, SCAR, and CARB.
May specialize in the areas of new product design, incoming material, production control, product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development.
Demonstrate competency in determining the adequacy/comprehensiveness of technical data, deviations, etc. related to quality requirements.
Provide technical assistance for production support and lead quality spill, containment, and corrective actions when needed.
Provide continued quality system support by improving processes and systems and by updating and creating site procedures.
Audit quality systems identifying risk and opportunity and implementing corrective action that is effective, verifiable, and documented.
Drives activities to reinforce Quality Culture through Quality initiatives, systems, or processes.
Provides a “Customer Service” attitude when interacting with internal and external customers.
Provide guidance, mentorship, and training to on topics such as Validation process, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical techniques, SPC, CAPA, APQP, PPAP, etc.
May be responsible for overall project schedule and budget.
Will be responsible for managing multiple priorities.
Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.
May have exposure to the external customers and/or industry organizations.
May supervise exempt and non-exempt personnel as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in Quality, Operations, Business, Engineering or related field
7 plus years of related work experience
STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with applying Quality Engineering Principles during new product development.
Extensive Mechanical knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems
Previous manufacturing with Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) or Tier 1 supplier in the transportation industry
Six Sigma, ASQ, or related certification
Strong ability to interpret basic technical drawings including characteristics such as views, title blocks, dimensioning, GD&T symbols, etc., and interpret specification requirements in relation to product and process characteristics
Strong experience with and be able to exhibit the use of structured problem-solving techniques
Advanced training/experience in the use of statistical techniques and process improvement methods
MS Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Visio, Statistical software
Experience with JDE ERP

Pay Range:
$82,000.00 - $132,800.00The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
