At the ChemResearch, the Quality Engineer III is responsible for the continuous improvement of defined customer and NADCAP certification processes for all metal finishing services provided while maintaining specific guidelines for process efficiency and standards outlined in the corporate quality policy. You will work between cross-functional processes to proactively identify potential causes of product and process failures. Using different tools and techniques to identify opportunities for project improvements to help elevate quality key performance indicators and deliver excellent quality services to our customers, all while working in a fast-paced environment that cultivates creatively new ideas to help drive On-Time-Delivery.
Job Duties
- Assists in defining and maintaining certified special process compliance for customer and NADCAP approvals in various coatings, wet processing, and inspection disciplines (anodize, chrome, nickel, silver, copper, electroless nickel plating, phosphate, chemfilm.
- Organizes and quantifies both customer and NADCAP audits.
- Identifies and implements Lean processing practices.
- Communicates with customers and industry representatives and/or suppliers and drives decisions on special process matters.
- Develops, evaluates, and drives improvement in special process methods and procedures.
- May administer and/or delegate the initial and periodic calibrations, qualifications, and testing for special process equipment and operators.
- Works well with Quality, Planning, and Operations on project work and on the production floor.
- Oversees internal audits of special processes and other available services to ensure systems and processes are being correctly and effectively controlled.
- Assists in troubleshooting daily production/quality problems.
- Performs Receiving Inspection and visual inspection of Plating Process
- Performs first article inspection by identifying masking areas and material used.
- Trains shop floor personnel on visual inspection requirements.
- Completes Certificate of Conformance (COC)
- Reevaluates or changes planning processes on new or repetitive job processes.
- Follows all company safety and health procedures for the protection of self and other personnel.
- All other duties as assigned.
Educational and Work Experience Requirements
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills while utilizing software solutions. Technical knowledge of metal finishing processes and techniques. Ability to develop and deliver presentations to all levels of an organization.
- Work requires professional written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate and interact with all levels of business and to work effectively with a wide range of internal/external customers. Ability to motivate teams and simultaneously manage several projects. Producing enduring, cost-effective solutions to business problems. Business reengineering.
- Some college education is preferred, and/or five (5) years of reliable work experience in the field of Quality Engineering with the ability to lead others.
- Work requires the willingness to work a flexible schedule, and overtime when needed.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and Visio is required. Microsoft Excel knowledge is required including the use of formulas as well as PivotTables, Graphs, and Charts
- Must conform to the company’s FAA Drug and Alcohol Program Policy.
