The Role:

The Quality Engineer I will play a critical supporting role in the execution of RMS’s quality strategy across projects and supply chain activities. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent Mechanical or Industrial Engineering graduate who is excited to apply their analytical mindset, problem-solving abilities, and curiosity about real-world challenges in engineered equipment manufacturing and repair.

Key Responsibilities:

Collaborate with Project Managers, Engineers, and Buyers to identify quality risks and implement mitigation plans during project kickoff and execution.
Participate in supplier evaluations and inspections of incoming materials.
Review Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to ensure alignment with internal procedures and customer requirements; monitor adherence throughout the project lifecycle.
Participate in root cause analysis and corrective action efforts (8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa) related to nonconformances.
Help analyze quality data and metrics (from uniPoint, ERP, and Excel-based tools) to track trends and identify areas for improvement.
Support internal audits and continuous improvement projects aligned with ISO 9001:2015 and customer-specific requirements.
Assist in developing and maintaining work instructions and standard operating procedures.
Actively engage in learning RMS systems, manufacturing processes, and technical standards.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
Internship or co-op experience in a manufacturing, supply chain, or quality setting preferred.
Strong analytical and data interpretation skills (Excel proficiency required; Power BI or database familiarity is a plus).
Excellent written and verbal communication skills — able to clearly present issues and recommendations.
Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and a passion for understanding how things work.
Ability to work across multiple departments and balance competing priorities.
Familiarity with engineering drawings, GD&T, and basic inspection tools is a plus.

Additional Information:

Travel may be required to RMS site4s or supplier facilities (<10%).
Exposure to rotating machinery, welding, and pre4cision machining environments.
Training in RMS systems (JobBoss, uniPoint, OST) and quality tools will be provided.
This is a full-time position, with as minimum expectation of 40+ hours per week. Additional hours, including evenings or weekends may be required based on engineering or project needs.
This position can be required to participate in the company random or customer specific drug and alcohol screening and background checks.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Ability to professionally handle stressful situations.
Able to understand, read, write and speak English.
Outgoing personality to interact with entire company and customers.
Organizational skills to manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
Must possess a valid drivers license.
Must be able to legally work in the US and provide proper documentation.

Work Environment:

Office environment on a regular basis. While performing the duties of this position, the employee may perform work in a shop environment and will be exposed to moving mechanical parts. While the work area may be described as generally clean, safe and "not loud", there will be machining operations that generate moderate noise and metal participles.
