Job Overview:

Responsibilities:

  1. Quality Assurance: Implement and oversee quality control procedures to guarantee the consistent production of high-quality metal tubing products. Conduct thorough inspections of materials, in-process components, and finished goods to assess compliance with G&L Tube's quality standards and specifications.
  2. Process Optimization: Collaborate with the manufacturing and engineering teams to identify areas for process improvement. Analyze production processes, identify bottlenecks, and propose effective solutions to enhance efficiency and product quality.
  3. Root Cause Analysis: Lead investigations into product non-conformance and customer complaints. Utilize various quality tools and methodologies to perform root cause analyses, and work with cross-functional teams to develop corrective and preventive actions.
  4. Quality Documentation: Maintain and update quality-related documentation, including inspection records, test reports, and standard operating procedures. Ensure adherence to all relevant quality management system requirements and certifications.
  5. Supplier Quality Management: Partner with the procurement team to evaluate and monitor the performance of suppliers. Conduct audits and assessments to ensure that raw materials and components meet G&L Tube's quality criteria.
  6. Statistical Analysis: Utilize statistical techniques to analyze data and monitor key quality metrics. Generate reports and present findings to management to support data-driven decision-making.
  7. Training and Development: Provide training and guidance to production personnel on quality control procedures and best practices. Foster a culture of quality awareness and continuous improvement throughout the organization.
  8. Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on industry regulations, standards, and best practices related to quality assurance. Ensure that G&L Tube Company remains in compliance with all applicable quality and safety requirements.
  9. Leadership: Requires demonstrated technical leadership ability in working with and leading a team of Quality Technicians.

Skills & Qualifications:

  1. Education: bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Relevant certifications in quality assurance (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) are a plus.
  2. Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a quality engineering role within a manufacturing environment, preferably in metal tubing or related industries.
  3. Technical Skills: Strong understanding of quality management principles, statistical process control (SPC), root cause analysis, and quality improvement methodologies. Experience with ISO 9001 or other quality management systems is highly desirable. Experience leading plant level APQP activities, including PPAP, Cpk/Ppk analysis, and other activities for a successful product launch/change process.
  4. Analytical Abilities: Proficient in data analysis and interpretation, with the ability to draw meaningful conclusions and make data-driven decisions.
  5. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Must be able to effectively communicate with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers. Effective professional writing skills to create high-quality reports, presentations, and e-mails.
  6. Attention to Detail: A keen eye for detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest level of quality in all products and processes.
  7. Problem-Solving: Proven track record of solving complex quality issues and implementing effective preventive measures.
  8. Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment, fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere.
