A growing manufacturer of custom equipment is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer to join its team and play a key role in strengthening its quality control operations. This newly created position is a direct response to increasing departmental demands and is designed to bring focused leadership to the Quality function—supporting both operational efficiency and product excellence.
The Quality Engineer will be responsible for streamlining inspection and documentation processes, ensuring that machined components used in equipment builds meet strict specifications. While the role does not include weld inspection responsibilities, it is critical to maintaining the integrity of precision parts and supporting continuous improvement efforts. The Quality Engineer will also oversee the day-to-day task management of a team of Quality Clerks.
Lead quality inspections for machined parts and ensure conformance to engineering and manufacturing standards.
Improve inspection processes and related documentation workflows.
Conduct internal quality audits and support compliance with quality management systems (e.g., ISO).
Analyze quality data to identify trends, root causes, and areas for improvement.
Coordinate daily activities of Quality Clerks to maintain efficient and effective inspection coverage.
Collaborate closely with engineering and production teams to resolve issues and drive product quality.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field preferred; Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience will be considered.
5+ years of experience in a manufacturing quality control or Quality Engineering role.
Strong background working with machined components in a made-to-order or high mix/low volume environment.
Proven experience in streamlining inspection processes and improving documentation practices.
Demonstrated ability to conduct internal audits and contribute to ISO or similar quality compliance systems.
Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
Proficiency with inspection tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, CMMs).
Familiarity with blueprints, GD&T, and technical specifications.
Experience with ERP systems and quality management software.
Leadership or team coordination experience, particularly overseeing Quality Clerks or similar roles.
This is a contract-to-hire position with the potential for long-term growth.
