Who We Are:

Essex Industries is a fast-growing CNC machining operation located in Huntington Beach, CA. We provide high quality parts, assemblies and devices to the Aerospace and Medical market sectors. Our industries require impeccable quality and we are seeking Quality Engineer(s). This is a critical and highly-visible role throughout all Essex locations. This role is seen as a progressive role and the ideal candidate will be seeking opportunities in Quality, Operations, or Supply Chain Management.


Position Summary:

Responsible for conducting ongoing analysis of the production process inputs and outputs to ensure that customer (internal and external) quality requirements are being achieved.


Essential Duties:

  • Act as a knowledge point to interpret and apply customer and industry specifications assuring product conformance to specifications
  • Review product plans (routers) and assure quality checks are understood and applied by operators and inspectors
  • Review and verify FAIR reports to assure all information are properly documented
  • Participate on cross-functional teams in Root Cause and Corrective Actions to resolve non-conformances and improve overall product quality
  • Manage customer non-conformance process
  • Coordinate Material Review Board activity
  • Interact with shop floor operators and managers to resolve day-to-day manufacturing quality issues
  • Perform contract review activities to assure quality requirements for new purchase orders are effectively incorporated into manufacturing and inspection processes
  • Involvement in New Product Introduction activities to assure quality requirements are understood, accounted for and proper inspection tools and methods are available
  • Manage instrument calibration process to assure inspection equipment is available and properly calibrated
  • Administer AS13002 requirements to generate Cpk values and determine inspection sampling rates


Requirements

Required Education/ Qualifications:


  • Engineering Degree or equivalent experience in the following fields: Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Materials Engineering, Industrial Engineering
  • Knowledge of basic (micrometers, calipers, etc) and advanced inspection methods (CMM, Comparator, etc)
  • Knowledge of RCCA methodology (Ishikawa, 5-Why, 8-D)
  • Aerospace PPAP experience is preferred
  • Practical knowledge of the following: SPC, PFMEA, AS13002, Cpk
  • Strong computer skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel
  • Understanding of AS9100 quality standards is required
  • The pay for this position starts at a minimum of $65,000 annually. when the minimum job requirements are met and goes up based upon a candidate’s experience and qualifications in a similar role. This position is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus based on company performance.
