Who we’re looking for
Toyota’s Quality Control Department is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Quality Engineer.
The primary responsibility of this role is to support QE Section Management Hoshin Initiatives while assuring customer satisfaction through complete vehicle quality.
The person in this role will support the Quality department to support and coordinate activities with other departments and external organizations to accomplish KPI (Key Performance Indicators) objectives (Safety, Quality, Productivity, Cost, Human Resources, Training and People Development).
What you’ll be doing
Support activities to assure TMMK (Toyota Motor Manufacturing Kentucky) completed vehicle and supplied parts quality.
Quality Standard and inspection plan development and confirmation of execution by manufacturing and suppliers.
Monitor group KPIs, identify & resolve issues using FMDS (Floor Management Development System) and/or TBP (Toyota Business Practices) methods.
Support new model vehicle development with design & manufacturing including Operation Plan (OP) adherence
Support deployment of the Quality Hoshin (Management Led Strategic Planning) within TMMK.
Support/Lead countermeasure activity for quality problems across departments and within Toyota Affiliates.
Manage change points with supplier, manufacturing and design within assigned area of responsibility
Manage/facilitate vehicle assurance strategies (UIN/ Water leak/Door Close/ Emissions/ etc.)
What you bring
Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) or 5+ years of equivalent engineering work experience.
Quality Engineering experience in manufacturing working in Mass Production vehicle or supplied parts
Experience with Key Performance Indicator (KPI) based management and/or Operation Plan (OP) milestone management
Experience demonstrating the ability to independently resolve complex quality problems, including product and process problems
Ability to travel locally and internationally for up to 15% of the time
Added bonus if you have
Quality Engineering Certifications and/or Quality Auditor Certifications (Process/ Systems) such as CQE, ISO or similar
Participation in focused JKK / Jishuken / structured continuous improvement activities
Experience creating and/or updating strategies for training, new model introduction, new technology or equivalent
Cost and Budget experience through planning and budget approval
Lead development of vehicle or product quality assurance strategies (UIN/ Water leak/Door Close/ Emissions/ etc)
Experience leading a team for cross department or cross functional goals
New model or product experience with creation and/or leading of Operation Plan (gated milestone management method)
Support experience (Shop Self-Reliance, Launch Support, extended events, etc.) at other sites (NAMC’s- North American Manufacturing Company, Toyota Motor Corporation, etc.).
Experience in multiple phases of new model or product development
Experience creating written department procedures and flows to support standard application and sustainment, including the implementation and/or publishing of said materials
Experience in Supplier Quality Management & Improvement, such as focus supplier, part approval (PPAP), process change management and non-conformance management
Experience in inspection process standard development and equipment implementation for quality inspection
Quality System Auditing experience (Process and/or System)
