The Quality Engineer will be responsible for continuous improvement efforts related to our quality and manufacturing. They will use a deep understanding our products and processes to help us solve business challenges and risks involving our raw materials, finished projects and processes.  They will generate theories, test for understanding and implement final solutions together with the operations team.  The Quality Engineer helps us evolve while delivering on our performance promise to customers.

You can be successful in this role if you have a “test and learn” mentality and can develop and execute process trials to gather data. What you’ll do as a Quality Engineer:

  • Employ scientific and statistical methods for the planning, testing and analysis of materials and process to determine root cause for customer quality complaints.
  • Report weekly complaint status to all department managers. Develops trends, charts and special reports as requested by department managers.
  • Watch and alert for Quality trends to all departments.
  • Organization of plant documentation systems.
  • Compliance sampling, test requests and documentation distribution.
  • Lead internal product and quality system audits by recording and responding to audit failures, including follow up with supervision and auditors.
  • Implement data collection and management systems where needed.
  • Lead cross functional teams through problem solving events with documented action items and deliverables.
  • Create and implement standard operating procedures for production environments.
  • Implement manufacturing and engineering best practices in paper converting, printing and finishing departments.
  • Teach and direct quality/manufacturing coop students.
  • Provide direct support to operational staff in terms of training, planning or execution of quality related missions.
  • Provide support and backfill for quality supervisor.
  • Increase the existing quality awareness among all employees. 

 

We’re looking for a Quality Engineer with:

  • Associate's degree or equivalent experience.
  • The principles of continuous improvement (lean, kaizen, 5S, etc.) are familiar to you.
  • 5 years of relevant work. 
  • Experience in manufacturing environment.
  • A history of achieving results in a team-oriented environment.
  • Ability to execute in a dynamic production environment.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office products.  
  • Knowledge and understanding of Inventory systems.
  • SAP knowledge preferred.
  • Team player, flexible, and open to change.

Physical requirements and working conditions: 

Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires the ability to:

  • Physical exertion required in lifting, bending, pushing and pulling.
  • Ability to manipulate objects and use various measurement tools 
  • Occasional lifting to 35 pounds.
  • Frequent prolonged standing up to 8 hours.
  • Working in a manufacturing environment while wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, typically ear plugs.
  • Corrected 20/20 vision is required along with no less than average color acuity.
  • Sitting at workstation approximately 40 percent of work time.  Standing and walking approximately 40 percent of work time.
  • Ability to work overtime or occasionally on weekends with short notice.
  • This Quality Engineer position is located on-site in our Erlanger, KY facility
