Quality Coordinator – Job Summary

Under the direction of the Food Safety & Quality Manager, the Quality Coordinator supports all Quality Assurance activities by ensuring safe, consistent processes that meet company standards and food safety requirements. This role is responsible for monitoring product quality throughout production, evaluating raw materials and finished goods, maintaining accurate documentation, and assisting with data analysis and reporting. The Quality Coordinator works closely with multiple departments to help ensure Stella & Chewy’s produces safe, legal, and high-quality pet food products that meet consumer expectations.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform daily operational inspections to ensure compliance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) in production areas.
  • Complete and verify QA checks for production lines and departments in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and enforce food safety standards in production, warehouse, and shipping areas.
  • Conduct environmental swabbing and sanitation verification activities.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections of equipment following sanitation procedures.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and verification of laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Assist with sample collection and microbiological testing.
  • Verify that raw materials, recipes, in-process materials, and finished products meet established specifications and formulations.
  • Support analytical testing and assist with interpretation of test results.
  • Maintain compliance with all company safety policies and procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with operations, maintenance, and sanitation teams regarding quality and food safety concerns.
  • Review and maintain accurate quality documentation and address deviations promptly.
  • Maintain electronic quality records and assist with trending and data analysis.
  • Ensure nonconforming materials are properly identified, documented, and contained.
  • Issue corrective actions and work orders based on audit findings and follow through to completion.
  • Support quality and food safety training initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

  • Ability to safely operate laboratory equipment and analytical instruments.
  • Flexibility to rotate shifts or adjust work hours as needed to support operations, projects, or staffing needs.
  • Ability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 pounds, and work in a production environment for extended periods.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to maintain accuracy in documentation and reporting.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Additional education in a science-related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Quality Assurance experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment preferred.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Ability to identify problems, collect and analyze data, and draw accurate conclusions related to product quality and food safety.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, timeliness, and data integrity.
