Description

The Quality Control Technician will perform quality testing of our ready-mix products at our plant locations and customer job sites under the direction of the Quality Control Manager.


Essential Functions:

  • Follow established quality control procedures to ensure that concrete mixes produced meet the customer's job-specific requirements.
  • Conduct quality control testing on aggregate and concrete products including, but not limited to, field testing (slump, air content, unit weight, yield, cylinders, etc.), gradations on production aggregates, and lab work (compression testing and scheduling).
  • Mix and test trial batches in advance of jobs within provided specifications.
  • Test field cylinders in the lab using established quality control procedures, and accurately record results.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of testing completed with results.
  • Maintain lab area and equipment according to industry standard.
  • Follow all company safety regulations and policies at all times.
  • Follow all company environmental regulations and policies at all times.
  • Represent company with professionalism and customer service in mind at all times.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • High school diploma required; Associate's degree preferred.
  • Working computer knowledge; including applicable Microsoft software.
  • Current, valid state driver's license.
  • Must be able to travel between plants.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • ACI Concrete Field Tech Level I certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in a quality control.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and use construction specifications and concrete mix designs.
  • General knowledge of the properties, characteristics, and performance of concrete mixes, its components, additives, and raw materials.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to accurately understand, analyze, and interpret information.
  • Proficiency in reading, understanding, speaking, writing, and using the English language.
  • Ability to accurately perform basic mathematical functions including adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, percentage computations and basic area and volume computations using fractions, decimal equivalents or whole numbers, and basic area, volume, unit weight, and total weight computations.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to accept and follow direction as provided by managers, and ask questions when needed.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
