Job Overview:

Responsibilities:

· Oversee daily operations of the Quality Control Department, including scheduling, workload management, and compliance with aerospace standards.

· Lead and manage a team of inspectors (Digital Data, Level I, and Level II), fostering accountability, discipline, and performance.

· Serve as subject matter expert for aerospace specifications, engineering drawings, and customer quality requirements.

· Collaborate with production, engineering, and leadership to resolve quality issues and improve efficiency.

· Track, analyze, and report quality metrics (e.g., defect rates, first-pass yield, FAI completion).

· Train, coach, and mentor inspectors in inspection techniques, use of precision measurement tools, GD&T interpretation, and AS9102 documentation.

· Support inspector progression by guiding skill development and certification readiness (ASQ, CMS, NDT etc.).

· Support customer and internal audits, preparing staff and ensuring inspection readiness.

 

Qualifications:· 

· Participate in the Quality Management System in compliance with AS9100 and customer-specific standards by proposing and preparing improvements to system documentation.

· Prepare and review FAI documentation and plans

· Participate on corrective action teams, as required

· Ensure calibration and maintenance of inspection equipment, digital measurement systems, and related software.

· Work with engineering to validate process capability and reduce non-conformances and scrap.

Inspection & Technical Support

· Read and interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models with complete accuracy.

· Oversee inspections using CMMs, Faro arms, laser scanning systems, Verisurf, and digital product definition tools.

· Approve first part buyoffs and FAI reports per AS9102.

· Support inspectors in escalated inspections, root cause identification, and customer presentations.

· Maintain compliance with ITAR requirements and ensure safeguarding of controlled data.

 

Skills & Competencies:

· Strong leadership and team-building skills with ability to train and mentor technical staff.

· Advanced knowledge of aerospace specifications, AS9100/AS9102 standards, and ITAR compliance.

· Expertise in GD&T, digital product definition/model-based definition, and dimensional inspection methods.

· Proficiency in Verisurf, Faro Arm/Romer systems, CMM programming, and inspection software (InspectionXpert, Net-Inspect, etc.).

· Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

· High degree of technical accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational discipline.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office and CAD systems.

 

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred; equivalent hands-on experience considered.

· Minimum 5 years in aerospace inspection, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.

· Demonstrated expertise in inspection methods, AS9100 QMS, and AS9102 FAI documentation.

· Proven ability to manage people, processes, implement corrective actions, support audits, and support continuous improvement initiatives.

· Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), CMSA preferred.

· Must be a U.S. Person/Permanent Resident (ITAR requirement).
