Position Overview We are a tier-one supplier to major automotive OEMs, specializing in the design and manufacturing of lighting systems, accessories, and related electronic components. Our facility includes design, tooling, production engineering, assembly, quality, sales, and customer service functions.
Key Responsibilities Provide strong leadership to ensure the Quality Control department operates effectively and meets performance goals. Core duties include:
- Setting clear expectations and driving departmental targets through performance planning, ongoing feedback, support for team members, and recognition programs.
- Establishing, communicating, and tracking performance against objectives.
- Developing, implementing, communicating, and enforcing policies and procedures.
- Identifying continuous improvement opportunities and introducing new methods, tools, or processes to enhance the quality assurance system, quality management system, and compliance with external certifications (e.g., ISO, CCC).
- Strengthening the quality system by monitoring and analyzing quality and product performance data from internal production, customer feedback, and market results.
- Managing and addressing budgetary issues related to quality operations.
- Overseeing customer complaints, ensuring prompt root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and cost-effective resolutions.
- Reviewing supplier performance ratings, identifying root causes of declines or improvements, and reporting findings to drive better outcomes.
- Maintaining regular communication with senior leadership to minimize customer complaints and ensure suppliers deliver high-quality products at competitive costs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
- 3-6 years, Engineer III 4-7 years of Experience in a manufacturing environment
- Experience in the quality functions within automotive supplier industry preferably with Japanese automakers and experience in JIT manufacturing environment is preferred
- Working knowledge of quality tools including FMEA, PQCT, capability studies and GD&T
- Plastic Injection molding process and process improvement experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated knowledge of ISO 9000 and AIAG standards
Working Conditions
- Ability to lift up to 40 lbs.
- Approximately 5 hours per day in a general office environment.
- Approximately 3 hours per day in a manufacturing/production environment.
- Occasional overnight travel for training, audits, or support at other locations.
- Flexibility to work unplanned/unscheduled overtime to meet customer deadlines and requirements.
Hazards/Exposure While performing duties, frequent exposure to:
- Moving mechanical parts.
- Chemicals, noise, and heat.
- Moderate noise levels (hearing protection required in designated areas).
