American Crane & Equipment Corporation (ACECO) is seeking a Quality Control Manager to lead and oversee all Quality Control activities across crane manufacturing, fabrication, and project execution. This role carries full functional responsibility for Quality Control, including weld inspection, NDE coordination, documentation control, and compliance with customer, regulatory, and code requirements.
This is a senior, hands-on role ideal for a quality professional with deep experience in welding inspection, NDE, and regulated manufacturing environments, including nuclear or safety-related work.

What You’ll Do
Quality Management & Leadership
- Lead and manage all Quality Control activities supporting shop and applicable field operations
- Establish, implement, and maintain inspection plans, QC procedures, and quality processes
- Coordinate quality activities across multiple projects, departments, and schedules
- Serve as the primary Quality Control authority for customers, third-party inspectors, and auditors
- Provide direction, mentorship, and technical guidance to Quality Control personnel
Welding & NDE Oversight
- Manage weld inspection and NDE programs, including planning, scheduling, execution, and documentation
- Ensure inspections comply with applicable AWS, ASME, customer, and regulatory requirements
- Coordinate UT, MT, PT, and VT activities performed in-house or by qualified subcontractors
- Review, approve, and release inspection reports, NDE results, and quality documentation
- Verify inspector qualifications, certifications, and continuity
Nuclear Quality & Regulatory Compliance
- Support projects with nuclear or safety-related quality requirements
- Ensure compliance with applicable nuclear customer requirements and standards, including NQA-1 where applicable
- Oversee inspections, testing, and documentation supporting nuclear-quality work
- Maintain complete, accurate, and traceable quality records suitable for audits and turnover packages
Documentation, Audits & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure all inspections and quality activities are properly documented and retained
- Support and participate in internal, customer, and regulatory audits
- Address audit findings, corrective actions, and follow-up activities
- Lead root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives
What We’re Looking For
Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Technical degree or formal training in welding, inspection, or quality preferred
Experience
- 10+ years of Quality Control experience in manufacturing, structural fabrication, heavy equipment, or similar industries
- Strong background in welding inspection and coordination of NDE activities
- Experience managing inspection documentation and quality records
- Proven ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and codes
- Experience managing multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI)
- Ultrasonic Testing (UT) certification
- Experience supporting nuclear industry projects and quality programs
- Familiarity with ASME, AWS, and nuclear quality requirements (including NQA-1)
- Experience supporting customer audits and regulatory inspections
- Prior experience in crane manufacturing, heavy lifting equipment, or large structural assemblies

REQUIREMENTS

- Willingness to wear required PPE in shop and manufacturing environments

Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Combination of professional office environment and manufacturing shop / inspection areas
- Regular presence in fabrication and inspection environments
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods
- Ability to lift, carry, and move materials or equipment up to 50 lbs
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, platforms, and work at heights
- Exposure to industrial conditions including noise, moving equipment, and shop hazards
- Required use of appropriate PPE
