Position Summary
The Transloading Lead Quality Control Technician is responsible for sampling and testing sands and proppants at the Carlsbad, NM processing facility while ensuring all products meet or exceed industry specifications. This position oversees adherence to API and ISO-13503-2 standards and ensures all testing procedures are conducted safely and accurately. It also includes training and guiding Quality Control Technicians on standard operating procedures and maintaining a strong safety culture for personnel and equipment. The Quality Control Lead upholds laboratory standards, maintains testing processes and equipment, and ensures consistent operational performance. Collaboration with cross-functional teams such as procurement, accounting, and human resources is required to support lab operations. The role involves working in both indoor and outdoor environments with exposure to varying conditions and is supervised by the Office Supervisor and General Manager, with additional duties assigned as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain the standards of the quality control lab, which includes training employees in standard procedures, safety polices and company policies
Maintain processes and equipment and interact with other functional areas such as procurement and accounting to maintain the lab
Communicate with management and customers. Predict, plan and interact with operations to strategically target productions goals that align with quality standards
Perform additional testing and tasks including: sample gathering, analysis of sand/proppants, , air quality sampling and monitoring, data entry and analysis, assist in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to operations, equipment maintenance and calibration
Observe, report, troubleshoot, and correct situations that are likely to develop into operational problems or safety concerns
Participate in daily safety briefings and complete thorough shift changeovers
Maintain work area in a clean, orderly condition

Education & Experience
High School Diploma or GED equivalent required, Associate’s Degree preferred
3-5 years’ relevant experience required
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
Ability to work inside and outside in environmental conditions and may include extremes in temperatures
Must be able to sit/stand for an extended period of time
Exposure to dust, chemicals, hazardous materials etc.
