Overview

The Quality Control Inspector I is responsible for performing inspections, investigating quality issues, and supporting the ISO 9001 Quality Management System within Vulcan’s Heat Treat, Cold Drawn and Threaded Rod production departments. This role focuses on proactive inspection, data entry, customer complaint support, and assisting senior quality personnel with audits and corrective actions.

Responsibilities

  • Perform daily or shift proactive in-process and final inspections of heat-treated, cold-drawn, and threaded products.
  • Audit production processes to ensure compliance with specifications and internal procedures.
  • Manage and maintain defective list and inspection records.
  • Monitor and manage gages and measuring equipment used in inspection processes.
  • Repair and calibrate gages in-house as trained and authorized.
  • Assist in investigating Returned Material Authorizations (RMAs), investigating and analyzing customer complaints and investigating raw material issues and support mill claim documentation.
  • Support internal ISO audits (plant tours) and corrective action documentation (ICARs).
  • Assist in writing or revising SOPs and basic technical training for production personnel as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent analytical skills and strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communication skills
  • Team player and positive attitude
  • Computer literacy required (ERP systems such as Plex, Microsoft Office).
  • Has forklift certification or the ability to obtain forklift certification

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • 1–3 years of manufacturing or quality experience
  • Basic understanding of ISO 9001
  • Knowledge of threaded rod, heat treat, or cold-drawn processes
