Job Overview
The Quality Control Inspector for Machined Parts is responsible for ensuring that machined components meet specified quality standards, tolerances, and customer requirements. This role involves inspecting parts, documenting findings, and collaborating with production teams to maintain high-quality output in a manufacturing environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspection and Measurement: Perform detailed inspections of machined parts using precision tools such as calipers, micrometers, CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machines), and gauges to verify dimensions, tolerances, and surface finishes.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure compliance with engineering drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Identify defects, non-conformities, or deviations and recommend corrective actions.
- Documentation: Record inspection results, maintain accurate logs, and prepare reports on quality metrics. Use quality management systems to track and document findings.
- Process Monitoring: Collaborate with production teams to monitor machining processes, identify potential issues, and suggest improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
- Testing and Validation: Conduct functional and visual inspections, including material hardness, surface treatments, and coatings, to ensure parts meet performance standards.
- Non-Conformance Handling: Initiate and manage non-conformance reports (NCRs), investigate root causes, and support corrective and preventive actions.
- Safety and Compliance: Adhere to workplace safety standards, quality control policies, and industry regulations (e.g., ISO 9001, AS9100).
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent; associate degree or technical certification in quality control, manufacturing, or a related field preferred.
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in quality control or inspection of machined parts in a manufacturing environment.
- Skills:
- Certifications: ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or similar certification is a plus.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks.
Working Conditions
- Environment: Manufacturing facility with exposure to machinery, noise, and metalworking processes.
- Schedule: Full-time - Mon-Fri 1:30 -10pm, with potential for overtime depending on production needs.
