Description

Summary/Objective
Quality Control Inspector is responsible for performing and documenting FAIs, receiving, in-process and final inspection to ensure product conforms to all applicable requirements.


Essential Functions

  • Performs receiving, in process and final inspection of products.
  • Records inspection results by completing reports, summarizing re-works and wastes and inputting data into quality database
  • Resolves issues and answer questions from Operators as well as from Inspectors and Engineers.
  • Participates in special projects related to tooling fixtures and gages.
  • Identifies and participate in cost reduction projects utilizing Lean Manufacturing principle.
  • Reviews and approve material and special process certifications
  • Follows detailed work instructions on shop routers for compliance with customer requirements
  • Works closely with the team to determine efficiency gaps, and to implement improvements.
  • Provides inspection support to all departments in the organization, perform part inspection and FAIs.
  • Performs other responsibilities as required.

  • Ability to read and interpret specifications and inspection instructions to determine product conformance.
  • Self-starter; able to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highly organized with meticulous attention to detail and follow-through while maintaining a safe, clean and organized workspace.
  • Must be able to interact and communicate with coworkers at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of mechanical inspection and proficiency in the use of manual & visual inspection equipment: e.g., Calipers, gauges, micrometers, digital indicators, etc.
  • Basic computer skills (including Microsoft Office).
  • Understands production travelers and work instructions.
  • Strong desire to learn and to apply new skills.

Work Environment
This job operates in a manufacturing environment. This role routinely uses shop floor tools and machinery.


Physical Demands
The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate machinery for precision work
  • Visual acuity (corrected) to read directions and prints and to inspect machined parts closely to ensure that they meet specifications
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, move about the shop floor, talk, hear, bend and reach with hands and arms
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to squat or kneel occasionally

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work
This is a full-time, 40 hour non-exempt position which operates Monday through Friday, 7:00am to 3:30pm.


Travel

Occasional (Less than 5%)


Required Education and Experience

  • High School diploma or equivalent required
  • Ability to read blueprints
  • · 4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment mechanically inspecting precision parts.
  • · 4 years of experience with inspection equipment and tools.
