What we are looking for 


Product Development Engineer

Location: Lakewood, NJ - 1650 Corporate Rd W, Lakewood, NJ 08701

Hours:  Monday – Friday 7:00 AM  – 3:30 PM

The main focus of the Quality Assurance Technician is supporting operations in the way of ensuring all product produced meets specifications.  Coordination of workflow to ensure accurate and timely results are effectively documented and communicated to key stakeholders is critical to this position.   

 

Key support functions also include in-coming raw material inspection/testing, customer claim investigation, and product development material evaluation.  The expectation is that this role will continually contribute to the enhancement and improvement of the quality systems.

  • Successful development, maintenance and enhancements, as directed, of quality systems such as procedures, supplies, recordkeeping and retain management.
  • Support quality improvement initiatives such as 5S, new test method development, and quality training.
  • Must have flexibility in work hours as occasion alternate shift coverage may be necessary as well as OT and early starts.

 

Core Results (85%)

  • Promotes positive team interaction to support unified approach to achieving company goals.  This includes the ability to effectively communicate (both oral and written), receive constructive criticism and alter performance to correct deficiencies, train, be trained, work to resolve team conflicts, and proactively supporting other members within the team.
  • Ensure data records and retains from raw materials to product samples are properly filled out and filed.
  • Working with Operations to ensure all testing is completed per quality plan, which includes but not limited to thickness, opacity, gloss, color, tensiles, tear, moisture level, laser engraving testing, and dyne. Confirm if the material is within the defined specifications.  Follow proper protocols for communicating issue and dispositioning material, including initiating deviations, placing material on hold or rejecting material.
  • Create inventory tag for finished products, as required, to ensure traceability of product. 
  • Manage non-conforming inventory under the direction of the Quality Engineer for any material that is deemed out of spec and report it to Supervisor.

  • Input testing data into computer software system.
  • Support customer care investigations by providing production data, re-evaluating retains and/or customer provided samples as directed.
  • Follow and abide by all documented procedures.
  • Use punch clock to punch in and out at the start and end of shift
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as required.

  • Support product development initiatives by sample prep, evaluation, and data collection as directed by Product Development Engineer and Manager.

High School or equivalent education

Basic computer skills

Basic math skills

Ability to work safely and follow all safety policies and guidelines

Effective communication skills, both written and oral

Ability to read and comprehend procedures.

Understand use of test equipment

 

Work Environment:  

Work is performed in a manufacturing facility.  Safety glasses and safety shoes are required at all times in the plant facility.  Other safety equipment, such as chemical resistant gloves, goggles, hearing protection, etc. may be required based on job task.
