POSITION SUMMARY:  

Responsible to ensure the quality of products and services meet regulatory, customer, and company policy standards by utilizing and applying quality and food safety systems.  Under the direction of the QA manager, provide leadership and support in directing the quality culture within the company.


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITES:   

  • Manage Quality Technicians to ensure conformity to customer, company, and regulatory standards, while maintaining high productivity and technical integrity.
    1. Maintain employee work schedules including timecard approval, work assignments, job rotation, training, vacations, and paid time off .
    2. Coach, mentor, and develop staff; including preparing and conducting employee performance appraisals and issuing discipline as needed.
  • Participate in internal audits and support corrective action identification and implementation. 
  • Address food safety & quality problems as they arise.
  • Implement Food Safety and quality control training programs as needed for plant personnel.
  • Support the collection and submission of samples to maintain quality programs.
  • Support identified quality improvement activities.
  • Support root cause analysis of holds and complaints, to drive and implement corrective action.
  • Coordinate objectives with production shift leaders to maximize product quality and reliability.
  • Report food safety & quality problems to personnel with authority to initiate action

 

REQUIRED EDUCATION, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • High School diploma required, associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred in Food Science/Technology or related scientific discipline.
  • Minimum of 3 years of work experience preferably in a Food and Beverage manufacturing environment.
  • 2-5 years supervisory or related experience.
  • Demonstrated experience developing policies and procedures, including quality measurements, root cause analysis and problem resolution.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel; Oracle experience desirable.
  • Must have high analytical aptitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong interpersonal communication (written and oral) and team-based skills.
  • Must be able to work across departments and build relationships with other departments to drive continuous improvement.
  • Must keep up with fast-paced work environment and record data as required in timely manner.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Ability to work in a manufacturing environment with exposure to:

  • Long periods of standing/moving, working around moving mechanical parts/conveyors
  • Loud environment, hot/cold, wet/dry conditions
  • Lifting/carrying <50 pounds
  • Frequent reaching/pulling/climbing stairs/stooping/kneeling/bending
