Position Summary
The Q.A. Supervisor is responsible for leading the daily operations of the Quality Laboratory to ensure testing is performed accurately, consistently, and in compliance with customer specifications, industry standards, and company procedures. This position supervises laboratory technicians, manages testing priorities, maintains laboratory equipment, ensures data integrity, and drives continuous improvement initiatives to support manufacturing and customer satisfaction.
The Quality Laboratory Supervisor works closely with Production, Engineering, Quality Assurance, and Technical Services to ensure timely and accurate test results while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001, safety requirements, and applicable industry standards.
Essential Responsibilities
Laboratory Management
- Supervise daily laboratory operations to ensure testing is completed safely, accurately, and on schedule.
- Assign and prioritize laboratory workload based on production requirements.
- Monitor laboratory performance, turnaround times, and testing capacity.
- Ensure proper staffing and cross-training of laboratory personnel.
- Develop and maintain laboratory work instructions and standard operating procedures.

Oversee laboratory testing including but not limited to:
- Physical property testing
- Tensile strength and elongation
- Aging and environmental testing
- Hot set testing
- Shrinkage testing
- Specific gravity
- Moisture analysis
- Wafer thickness measurements
- Dimensional inspections
- Compound verification
- Incoming material testing
- Product qualification testing
- Customer qualification testing
- Investigation testing for quality concerns
- Review laboratory results for accuracy before release.
Safety
- Promote a safe laboratory environment.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and company safety requirements.
- Conduct safety observations and inspections.
- Ensure proper handling and disposal of laboratory materials.
Qualifications
Education
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, Quality, or related technical discipline preferred.
- Equivalent manufacturing laboratory experience may be considered.
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of quality laboratory experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Minimum 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
- Experience in cable manufacturing or polymer testing is highly desirable.
