Description
The QA Supervisor will work with the QA Team and Sanitation Team to support manufacturing and warehouse team members to assure, train, give guidance and monitor for the adherence to GMPs, SOPs, food safety regulations, and product and customer specifications. They will work with the QA and Sanitation team to ensure that job duties and responsibilities are completed in a timely manner. They will directly supervise QA Techs and Sanitation Team Members and will act as a liaison in the management of the QA Technicians and the Sanitation Team for the QA Manager. They will champion Division and Corporate objectives to ensure goals and KPIs are met.
Responsibilities:
- Represent the Company’s Vision, Mission and Core Values in every action and decision.
- Provide leadership and commitment in support of continuing improvements in food safety, quality, productivity, and delivery performance.
- Give guidance to PM Shift QA Technicians, Lab Technicians, and Sanitation Team Members and ensure that responsibilities are covered
- Work with the AM QA Supervisor to maintain the work schedule for QA Technicians, Lab Technician and Sanitation Team
- Work with QA Technicians and Sanitation Team as needed to:
- Perform pre-line clearance and start-up checks
- Supervise Sanitation Team to ensure equipment and area hygiene standards are met.
- Monitor and complete Master Cleaning Schedule
- Perform in-process QA checks during production (weight, seal, metal detector, lot code, labels, appearance, correct ingredients)
- Pre-operational inspection after cleaning activities
- Swab for ATP, gluten, allergen
- Test products for presence of allergen as needed
- Perform hygiene, housekeeping, and GMP audits daily and retrain when needed
- Perform sensory and physical testing on WIP and finished good products
- Train Team Members on GMP and Food Safety principles
- Audit processes, procedures, and documentation daily in blending, packaging, scaling, heat treatment, warehouse and retrain, when needed.
- Place product on hold and control non-conforming material
- Attend planning meetings, team huddles and non-compliance meetings
- Work with Supervisors to investigate and find the root cause of defects, non-conformities, foreign material and CCP deviations
- Ensure the monthly completion of environmental sampling and testing by Sanitation, Glass and Brittle Plastic Audit and GMP Audit by assigned technicians.
- Oversee monthly FSQ training sessions
- Follow up on adherence to pre-requisite programs. Verify documentation for sanitation logs, PM logs, Pest Control logs, daily calibration verification logs, etc.
- Assist in fulfilment of Customer documentation requests, customer surveys, etc.
- Assist in the maintenance of SF360 programs and items
- Assist in the maintenance of QMS and hold/release logs
- Assist in Customer and 3rd party audits
- Maintain knowledge of Honeyville’s current SOPs, policies, and manuals by keeping up with training objectives
- Ensure Food Safety, and Food Defense and Security, and adherence to Current Good Manufacturing practices
- Back up for QA Tech and Lab Tech responsibilities
Qualifications
- High School Diploma plus 5+ years’ experience in the food industry as food tech/QA/food safety with a background in food manufacturing and sanitation processes preferred
- Experience with Auditing in a GMP environment and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent computer proficiency (MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Food safety experience, with strong working knowledge of US food manufacturing including Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP)’s, SOP’s, HACCP, SQF, Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) readiness and compliance, auditing and inspections as well as environmental guidelines.
- PCQI Certification preferred

Ability to lift and/ or move more than 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color and depth vision. Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, risk of electrical shock or vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to occasionally loud. Exposure to allergens such as Soy, Wheat, Tree Nuts, Milk/Dairy, eggs etc.
