The Quality Assurance Manager is a member of mid-level management in the Quality Assurance department at Lyons Magnus, a food and beverage manufacturer headquartered in Fresno, California. The position requires expertise in Quality and food processing with proficiencies in safety and quality assurance of food products, equipment, and manufacturing capabilities, GMPs, and HACCP guidelines. This individual will lead and develop the on-site Lyons Quality department.


Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm (Flexible as needed)

Schedule: Monday - Friday (Some weekends if needed)

Location: Westlake, Oh

Requirements

  • Responsible for location Quality team in absence of Quality Director.
  • Contribute to the overall company Quality agenda; driving and adding to departmental projects.
  • Coach and develop staff using their personal development plans and ensure individual training within their area of expertise.
  • Support Quality Supervisors in managing indirect staff, ensuring compliance to procedures and best practices.
  • Assist all QC functions within the department i.e. batch adjustments for all processing lines, processing line checks and verifications, day after analysis, and any other customer or formulation requirement.
  • Verify all laboratory SOPs, ensuring performance metrics are achieved with a focus on exceeding customer expectations.
  • Ensure operations control checks are completed on time and in full including, but not limited to sterilization, in-process, and finished packaging worksheets.
  • Review all manufacturing deviations with production and Quality staff to root cause effectively.
  • Review all Quality checks for accuracy and completeness, following up with personnel or escalating as appropriate.
  • Create training materials; SOPs, VWIs and OPLs for the successful implementation and adherence to company, customer, SQF, and regulatory food safety and quality requirements.
  • Ensure all laboratory equipment and supporting operations measuring devices are calibrated, verified as scheduled and functioning as designed. Troubleshoot and or escalate to vendors for effective repair or replacement.
  • Ensure customer product sampling is completed and shipped in a timely manner to respective 3rd party contractor or customer’s preference.
  • Continuously improve processes with regards to defect reduction, customer complaint investigation, and root cause analysis.

Required Skills

  • Interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with cross functional teams, internally and externally.
  • Individual must have strong food processing skills and a Quality background.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and time management skills.
  • Problem-solving skills (pays attention to details and effort to understand causes instead of just the effects) and creativity for developing innovative solutions and applications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with strong emphasis on technical presentations and reports.
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple projects under short timelines to produce commercially viable solutions.
  • Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment

Required Education and Experience

  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited university.
  • Experience may be a substitute for degree.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Demonstrated team building.
  • Quality certifications including PCQI, Better Process Control, preferred.
