Qualifications | Who We’re Looking For
Are you an undergraduate Freshman, Sophomore, or Junior student majoring in Plant Science, Plant Pathology, Agronomy, or a related degree? Do you have previous experience in agriculture, production, research, or farming? If so, we want to hear from you!

We are looking for candidates who possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • Experience in a seed testing lab (not required)

  • Understanding of key concepts of plant science and seed physiology

  • Ability to work independently or in a team environment

  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of safe working practices and procedures

 

Key Responsibilities | The QA Laboratory Technician Intern supports the quality assurance and research efforts within the seed testing laboratory through hands-on involvement in germination and vigor evaluations, inventory management, and field plot activities. This role provides a practical learning experience for students pursuing a degree in Plant Science or a related field, allowing them to apply academic knowledge in a professional setting while contributing to ongoing laboratory and field-based initiatives. Below are a list of key responsibilities that are not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time: 

 

  • Perform corn germination evaluations and document results using current lab methods.

  • Develop and own a project to explore various corn vigor testing methods for use in the lab.

  • Assist in the organization and management of seed inventory sampling.

  • Assist in the summer grow-out plot, aiding in preparing, planting, and observations.

  • Work with the QMS specialist to gain an understanding of a Quality Management System program.
