Job Summary

The Quality Assurance (QA) Inspector is responsible for inspecting precision sheet metal components and assemblies to ensure they meet internal quality standards, customer specifications, and AS9100/NADCAP requirements. The QA Inspector plays a key role in maintaining product integrity by performing first article, in-process, and final inspections using a variety of precision measuring tools and documentation methods. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, knowledgeable in inspection techniques, and committed to continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • **Inspection & Quality Control **- Perform first article, in-process, and final inspections on precision sheet metal parts and assemblies.

    • Verify dimensions, tolerances, and cosmetic requirements using calipers, micrometers, height gauges, comparators, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) and other tools.
    • Review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and job travelers.
  • Document & Reporting- Accurately complete inspection records, non-conformance reports (NCRs), and quality documentation.

    • Support AS9100 and NADCAP documentation requirements and participate in internal audits as needed.
    • Maintain calibration logs and ensure proper use of inspection tools and gauges.
  • Collaboration & Communication- Work closely with production, engineering, and quality teams to resolve quality issues.

    • Provide feedback on recurring issues and contribute to root cause analysis and corrective actions.
    • Support continuous improvement efforts and adherence to quality standards.
  • ** Team Collaboration**- Keep inspection area clean, organized, and compliant with 5S and safety standards.

    • Ensure tools and inspection equipment are handled and stored properly.

Qualifications

  • Education and Experience- High school diploma or GED required.

    • 2+ years of experience in quality inspection within a precision sheet metal or aerospace manufacturing environment.
    • Familiarity with AS9100, NADCAP, and ISO quality systems
  • Sills & Competencies- Proficient in reading and interpreting blueprints and technical drawings.

    • Strong knowledge of precision measurement tools and inspection techniques.
    • Good documentation and communication skills.
    • Ability to identify defects and support problem-solving processes.
    • Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Physical Requirements- Must be able to stand for extended periods, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.

    • Frequent use of hands and vision to inspect small parts and components.
    • Use of PPE (safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection) required.
  • Work Environment- Work is performed in a manufacturing and inspection environment with routine interaction with production, engineering, and quality personnel.

  • Schedule- Hours: 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday – Friday (Some flexibility may be required based on production needs).

  • Compensation- Hourly Rate: $21 - $27 per hour

    • Benefits include shared-cost health care, paid holidays, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match after a waiting period.
