Responsibilities:
General Lab Analysis 40%
Be able to perform the following analysis by various methods and levels and adjust where necessary: Brix, TA, pH, alcohol, residual sugar, FSO2, TSO2, CO2, O2, specific gravity, and wine addition trials.
Prepare chemical solutions and reagents used for lab analysis.
Standardize lab equipment and chemicals.
Sample and inspect all inbound packaging material.
Perform bottling line quality checks and report nonconformance issues
Clearly record all data and enter it into the wine tracking system.
Train seasonal and part-time employees.
Maintain sanitary condition of the lab.
Troubleshoot and maintain instruments.
Collect samples from tanks and barrels for lab analysis and tasting.
Wine Tracking 30%
Data entry of work orders into the wine tracking system.
Reconcile all wine movements and investigate/resolve discrepancies prior to month’s end.
Manage custom crush and offsite wine storage facilities in the wine tracking system.
Quality 30%
Completes incident reports, and corrective actions and holds records pertaining to non-conforming materials and finished goods.
Responsible for ensuring the Root Cause/Corrective Action reports are completed
Assists with preparing the monthly scorecard that includes; an Internal quality audit, Housekeeping and sanitation audit, Bottling QC audit score, and customer complaints.
Ensures all control documents are current and updated in our records database, and available to winery personnel.
Conducts microbiological plating of bottled products and recordkeeping of results.
Experience:
Degree in science preferred, or equivalent related work experience:
Experience in a winery, including 1 or 2 harvest seasons or
Quality experience in the food or beverage industry.
Skills:
Computer literate in Excel, Microsoft Word, email, and database systems
Strong math skills, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Excellent organizational skills and analytical thinking
Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

Physical Requirements:
The work environment requires mobility throughout the labs, offices, cellar, and barrel rooms.
Requires standing for long periods of time, walking, and standing on concrete floors.
Requires ability to climb stairs, lift, bend, twist, and carry samples repetitively.
Ability to lift and carry up to 45 lbs.
This is a full-time position that could include extended hours and weekend work during harvest and as needed.
