Our client is delivering major high-tech construction projects, including semiconductor and microelectronics facilities. These projects demand tight quality control, precise coordination between trades, designers, and tool owners, and strict compliance with industry codes and standards. They are adding an experienced Process Piping QAR to their field quality team.

Job Description:

Catapult is seeking a Quality Assurance Representative (QAR) specializing in Process Piping for a high-tech semiconductor construction project. This role inspects materials and installations to confirm they meet specifications, codes, and contract requirements, and serves as the technical link between the trades, designers, and tool owners. The ideal candidate has journeyman-level piping experience, prior QA/QC experience on semiconductor or high-tech projects, and deep knowledge of metal, plastic, and hybrid piping systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Inspect all materials received prior to installation or use to confirm fabrication specifications are met
• Verify installations comply with Master Specifications, Standard Installation Details, state and local codes (UMC, UBC, UPC, NFPA), SMACNA standards, International Codes, ASME, and AWS
• Perform all required inspections and equipment signoffs
• Interface with OM/PM/CC and trades on matters affecting project quality and system operation
• Interface with contractor supervision on installation functions and requirements
• Assist trades in identifying and solving construction problems in the field
• Resolve technical construction questions and answer discipline-specific RFIs
• Participate in SOP and perform SIPP and Pre-Task Plan audits for compliance
• Write, interpret, and maintain installation guidelines, situational bulletins, and memos in compliance with contract guidelines
• Communicate quality expectations clearly so nothing is left to interpretation
• Use tool drawing sets for assigned functional areas to solve field construction issues
• Drive trade coordination based on area layout, microschedule, prefacilitation, construction sequence, and tool sequence
• Track field hours and assess earned value
• Coordinate prefacilities readiness checklists

Required Experience/Skills:

• Prior experience in QA/QC roles on major high-tech construction or semiconductor facility projects
• Journeyman-level experience in process piping
• Meets at least one of the following: ASME B31.3 compliant weld certificate, minimum ASNT Level II, or an applicable technical degree
• Qualified PVC/CPVC bonder in accordance with ASME B31.3 (Chapter VII)
• PVC/CPVC manufacturer certification in solvent cemented joint fabrication, valve installation, mechanical (threaded) connection assembly, and other piping system components
• Thorough understanding of industry quality standards for plastic, metal, and hybrid piping materials used in microelectronics construction
• Strong knowledge of carbon steel and stainless steel welding and weld characteristics
• Strong knowledge of heat fusion and solvent welding of various plastics
• Strong knowledge of other pipe joining methods, including threaded, compression, face seal, flared fittings, brazing, and soldering
• Strong knowledge of local and national codes, construction drawings and symbols, and industry-standard practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with trades and act as the technical interface between trades, designers, and tool owners

Nice-to-Haves:

• George Fischer certification on one or more PVDF fusion processes (GF Model IR 63, GF Model IR 225)
• Working knowledge across other disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, Architectural, Life Safety Systems) to support cross-trade coordination
• Experience with microschedules, prefacilitation, and tool install sequencing in a fab environment
• Earned value tracking experience

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent plus journeyman-level trade experience; an applicable technical degree may substitute for weld/ASNT certification requirements
