Requirements

Summary


Take charge of all quality improvement initiatives concerning vendors and suppliers of materials, products, and services in product development and manufacturing.   Directly oversee the material requirements planning (MRP) system to ensure optimal inventory levels and efficient production scheduling.

 

Essential Functions

 

  • Define, develop, and establish criteria for selecting suppliers.
  • Create internal rating programs and external certification standards for suppliers.
  • Assess and manage the impact of these programs on various internal processes within the organization.
  • Develop and implement specific communication methods with suppliers, including regularly scheduled meetings, routine operating procedures, and emergency operating procedures.
  • Set clear expectations and confirm that suppliers understand critical product and delivery requirements.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier performance in quality, cost, delivery, and service levels, and establish associated metrics for defect rates, product reliability, functional performance, timeliness, responsiveness, and technical support availability.
  • Conduct supplier audits, evaluate corrective and preventive action plans, provide feedback, and monitor process improvements.
  • Implement supplier certification programs that include process reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Identify strategies for developing customer-supplier partnerships and alliances.
  • Describe the impact purchased products and services can have on final product assembly or total service packages, including ship-to-stock and just-in-time delivery.
  • Manage the MRP system to generate material requirements and production schedules based on sales forecasts and inventory levels.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate inventory data, lead times, and safety stock levels within the MRP system.
  • Plan and conduct incoming material inspections.
  • Evaluate employee performance and create applicable metrics.
  • Establish technical specifications for Natureplex products, including physical, chemical, visual, performance, and reliability characteristics, known as pass-through characteristics.
  • Create product verification and traceability requirements, including Certificates of Analysis and identification requirements for potential recalls.
  • Assist the Quality Department with suppliers' quality assurance requirements.
  • Draft contracts detailing products and volumes to be purchased within the contract period, and maintaining purchase prices.
  • Meet monthly and quarterly performance metrics.
  • Aim to increase the speed and efficiency of supply operations to meet revenue goals while continuing to provide outstanding, reliable service to customers.
  •  Perform other related duties as needed.

Skills, Knowledge, Abilities

 

  • Technical Knowledge - Ability to maintain computer skills and knowledge of office equipment.
  • Computer Skills—To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic computer skills, knowledge of Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, MRP systems, and the ability to use internet tools.
  • Communication - Strong interpersonal and excellent oral and written communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of delivery performance, Corrective actions, quality management system requirements, and material planning systems.
  • Knowledge of supplier management guidelines such as CQI-19
  • Adaptability - Ability to establish and maintain excellent interpersonal skills and work well with all internal management and staff levels, including outside clients and vendors.
  • Dependability - must be highly self-motivated and organized with a demonstrated ability to prioritize, manage, and schedule daily work. Attention to detail is a must.

Supervisor Responsibility

 

· Train and mentor employees, emphasizing the reinforcement of safety guidelines.

· Develop supply chain management strategies to enhance efficiency and speed.

· Collaborate with other departments to address and resolve operational gaps.

· Balance safety, cost management, and business growth; prepare and submit reports.

· Optimize warehouse operations.

· Manage communications and negotiations with suppliers.

· Coordinate with the production team on material planning and scheduling.

· Report accidents and injuries, ensuring that proper treatment protocols are followed.

· Supervise a team of 8 or more staff members.

· Manufacturing, Warehouse environment, some loud noises, strong odors, hot and cold conditions

  • This position requires occasional lifting of objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

 

Expected Hours of Work

 

· Monday – Friday, 40 + hours per week, weekends when needed

 

Travel

 

· Approximately 25% between facilities

 

Required Education and Experience

 

· Bachelor's degree in business management, supply chain management, or a related field

· Some experience in a related field

· MRP systems preferred

 

Additional Eligibility Qualifications

 

· A certification through the Association for Supply Chain Management

· Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) designation
