Position Summary:
The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing strategies, maintains strong supplier relationships, and supports production schedules by ensuring timely delivery of quality materials.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals and production demands
- Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms
- Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluations and contract negotiations
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and planning teams to prevent shortages or overstock
- Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply risks to proactively adjust purchasing strategies
- Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
- Lead and develop the purchasing team, providing guidance and performance management
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and finance teams
- Drive cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement within the supply chain
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
- Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
- Proven leadership experience and ability to manage a team
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in metal fabrication
APICS or CPSM certification
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
