Job Overview:

Position Summary:

The Purchasing Manager is responsible for overseeing the procurement of raw materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations. This role ensures cost-effective purchasing strategies, maintains strong supplier relationships, and supports production schedules by ensuring timely delivery of quality materials.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with company goals and production demands
  • Source, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure optimal pricing, quality, and delivery terms
  • Manage supplier relationships, including performance evaluations and contract negotiations
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with production and planning teams to prevent shortages or overstock
  • Analyze market trends, pricing, and supply risks to proactively adjust purchasing strategies
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and regulatory requirements
  • Lead and develop the purchasing team, providing guidance and performance management
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, operations, and finance teams
  • Drive cost reduction initiatives and continuous improvement within the supply chain

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, or related field (preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities
  • Proven leadership experience and ability to manage a team
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in metal fabrication

  • APICS or CPSM certification

  • Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
