POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for setting a variety of progressive tools into punch presses. Install fixtures; make manual check of first piece; help operator as necessary. Troubleshoot tools and die protection. Run machine as needed.

**ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS **

  • Review work instructions.
  • Check and provide all process components including material, lubricants, and packaging, etc.
  • Identify and locate proper material thickness and gauge.
  • Use cart, tray, or forklift to bring necessary tools to machine.
  • Set and position tooling into machine.
  • Set up equipment for accurate material feeds.
  • Run first piece and verify accuracy.
  • Operate machine to run production as required.
  • Able to use correct package and label products correctly.
  • Visually inspect production for burrs, scrapes, rust, and other defects.
  • Check production parts against print using various gages, micrometers, calipers, etc.
  • Adjust settings as needed.
  • Check and adjust hydraulic and mechanical safety controls
  • Perform routine maintenance on all assigned equipment and machinery as required.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Communicate all problems and other work-related issues with supervisor.
  • Receive, understand and follow all written and oral instruction.
  • Train and assist operator as needed on difficult jobs or with unusual work instructions and to adjust or re-set work.
  • Timely and accurate completion of all paperwork associated with position.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures in including safety and attendance requirements.
  • Participate in activities to increase personal skill level, overall departmental processes, and product quality.
  • Resolve day-to-day issues by working effectively with others.
  • Other duties required to meet company needs as assigned by supervisor.

MINIMUM SKILLS AND ABILITITES

  • Ability to learn to speak, read and communicate in English
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Basic shop math understanding.
  • Technical knowledge of assigned machines.
  • Distinguish a variety of raw materials (stainless steel, cold rolled steel, etc.)
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills.
  • Attention to detail
  • OSHA required training in Lock-out/Tag-out, Hazard Communication, Personal Protective Equipment and Emergency Evacuation.
  • Certified Forklift Driver; operating knowledge of hoist and crane equipment

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • 20/20 vision required with or without correction.
  • Use of hands 100% of the workday.
  • Good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to stand or walk 100% of the workday.
  • Twisting, bending, leaning frequently during the workday.
  • Office environment, occasional exposure to loud noises, dust, solvents, coolants, and oils.
