Job Overview:

 

Job Posting – Punch Press Set Up Tech Class B

The Class B Setup Tech sets up and operates single and automatic power press that feeds continuous roll of sheet metal into position under ram by performing the following duties.   Also, assumes responsibility for general housekeeping duties and striving toward continuous improvement.

 Essential Role and Responsibilities:

  • To perform routine operation of the press(s), the auxiliary equipment and general maintenance of the press(s).
  • To perform all required shift start up and shift end functions.
  • To perform all required Q.C. checks.
  • To make minor adjustments to air lines, oil lines, and straightener rollers.
  • To keep the machine and surrounding area clean and free of debris, excessive oils, and obstructions.  
  • To isolate and make out any non-conformance paperwork for suspect parts.
  • To make out the appropriate paperwork for die or sensor damage.
  • To make out the work orders for the maintenance and tool room departments via computer as needed.
  • The operator is responsible for tagging and pulling dies at the end of the run. 
  • To set-up compound dies and to reset progressive dies.
  • To make minor adjustments to sensors, cams, and ram settings.  (Any changes made to cams, sensors, and ram settings must be documented and initialed on the appropriate set-up sheet).  
  • All other responsibilities as assigned. 

 Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Experience running high volume automated punch presses is required for 1st shift.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree
  • Ability to read and understand quality related documents, general understanding of the company quality standards and expectations, and other related documents and instructions. 
  • SPC and sensor experience.
  • Ability to learn from others and retain information related to the job, such as how to use both micrometers and calipers, read and understand blueprints. 
  • Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information one-on-one and in small groups.  Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in various units of measure using whole numbers and decimals.  
  • Must be able to regularly stand, walk, and reach with hands and arms frequently.
  • Must be able to frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
