Description

The purpose of this position is to configure and operate electrically powered presses to cut, shape, and form metal, plastic, or other materials used in manufacturing operations. Performs operations such as blanking, bending, punching, and forming based on blueprints and other instructions. As a member of the Operator family, you may be asked to help cover other similar machines throughout the facility to maximize our capacity as business needs dictate.

Role and Responsibilities
Read, interpret, and follow blueprints, diagrams, engineering drawings, specifications, bills of material, and other written instructions or procedures.
Sets up and operates equipment to punch/cut sheet metal according to blueprints or product specifications.
Tests and adjusts equipment to control speed, material feed, and path of the punch; set up programming, according to blueprints or product specifications.
Reads work orders or production schedules to determine specifications, such as quantity, tooling, and materials to be used, dimensions, and/or tolerances.
Ensures equipment is working at full capacity and is stocked with needed materials.
Performs periodic checks on output; measures completed parts to verify conformance to specifications.
Monitors equipment operations for proper punching of parts; records operational data; identifies and reports production and/or parts issues to management.
Separates parts from sheet metal blanks.
Completes and maintains relevant documentation with correct information and data.
Performing preventative maintenance including the use of a surface grinder to maintain punch and dies
Required to have proper and accurate entry into the M1 data collection system.

Accurately follow OSHA guidelines and maintain compliance for all business obligations.
Accurately follow ISO procedures.

Qualifications and Education Requirements
High School Degree is required
Trade School Certification or 2+ years experience with punch press operations
Turret punch experience preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and/or drawings to determine the specific punch press requirements
Strong background and experience in using a variety of fabrication tools; drills, grinders, precision measuring tools
Must be able to speak, read and write in English
Strong numerical reasoning
Proficient computer navigation and utilization skills
High attention to detail and self-motivation skills

Working Conditions
The humidity level will be elevated during the summer months.
Exposure to specific contaminants throughout work should be expected infrequently.
Exposure to loud noise levels, earplugs are provided and recommended
Safety glasses are required on the plant floor at all times.
Steel toe or composite toe shoes recommended.

Physical Demands
Must have a full range of motion and be able to kneel and bend for extended periods as the task may require.
This position requires continual use of your hands, considerable use of your arms and legs, and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials.
This position requires long periods of standing
The use of safety equipment such as safety glasses, gloves, steel-toed boots, and hearing protection is utilized daily.
This position requires lifting and maneuvering 50lbs without physical restrictions and up to 70lbs with the assistance of lifting equipment or other team members
This is a 40 hour per week job with occasional mandatory overtime.
